Emma Lee raines knows there's only one cure for a bad case of murder

I told you I was sick, reads the headstone above Mamie Sue Preston's grave. She was the richest woman in Sleepy Hollow, Kentucky, and also the biggest hypochondriac. Ironic, considering someone killed her—and covered it up perfectly. And how does Emma Lee, proprietor of the Eternal Slumber Funeral Home, know all this? Because Mamie Sue's ghost told her, that's how. And she's offering big bucks to find the perp.

The catch is, Mamie Sue was buried by the Raines family's archrival, Burns Funeral Home. Would the Burnses stoop to framing Emma Lee's granny? With an enterprising maid, a penny-pinching pastor, and a slimy Lexington lawyer all making a killing off Mamie Sue's estate, Emma Lee needs a teammate—like her dreamboat boyfriend, Sheriff Jack Henry Ross. Because with millions at stake, snooping around is definitely bad for Emma Lee's health.

I really enjoyed this book. When Emma Lee is joined by Mamie Sue who wants her to find out who murdered her, Emma Lee has a bit of a problem, Mamie was buried by a rival funeral home so it's a little difficult to check into. When joined by another ghost Emma Lee has her hands full. I love Emma Lee, she seems to be the only sane character in town and they all think she's crazy because she sees dead people. She is a strong character and sure of herself, she also knows her flaws. One thing that bothers me is how people can't wait to say she's crazy and have her locked up, including her grandmother and doctor. Other than that the mystery was great, I loved Mamie Sue, Emma Lee finally gets haunted by a likable character, she had me laughing a few times. I did figure it out before Emma Lee, however, there was a twist that I didn't see coming, actually a couple of them. I will continue on with this series.

Tonya Kappes' A Ghostly Murder Emma Lee Raines and her sister. Charlotte Rae Raines run the inherited Eternal Slumber Funeral Home. It has been in the family for ages. Emma Lee is a Betweener. That is she can see plus converse with the dead who are waiting to pass over to the other side. But first their murderers must be found. Some think Emma Lee is crazy. Her doctor calls it "Funeral Trauma". The only other person who knows that she can communicate with dead is her boyfriend, the Sheriff. The book is set in Sleepy Hollow, Kentucky. The author is able to weave the past and present into the story so the reader being able to understand the story. The story a fast paced, a murder mystery with stunning surprises plus a lot of fun, interesting, and quirky characters and humor This is book #4 in Ghostly Southern Mysteries. It can be read as a stand alone.

This is the fourth book in the Ghostly Southern Series and I hope it is not the last! Emma Lee has a new ghost. The ghost of Mamie Sue Preston is back and wants to know who murdered her. There is a lot of fun characters in this book. I would love to see another book with some competition between Charlotte and Emma Lee. The ending of this book was totally surprising.... I did not see that coming. Great Book!!

his is the fourth book in the Ghostly Southern Mystery series. All four books have been released this year, starting in March. Since this one seems to be the last, at least for the immediate future, they are a perfect length for binge reading the series so far. And as the events in the books take place over just a few months, the ending of one leads right into the beginning of the next. The tension between Emma Lee and her sister Charlotte Rae has steadily grown over the series thus far and eventually comes to a head that you won't want to miss. Additionally, Jack Henry has a big decision to make, leaving Emma Lee in uncertain about their future. Throw in the usual antics of Zula Mae and Emma has her hands full in this installment. This is the book where Emma Lee really starts to figure out how to help her murdered clients and not worry so much about the "Funeral Trauma" label. With a second body turning up and a third person in a coma, Emma Lee has to figure things out quickly... or she might be next. One of the things that I liked about this story is how much Emma Lee has come to terms with her "Inbetweener" status. She has gained confidence in both herself and her abilities. This is the first of the four books that didn't end with a set up for the next book, but I am hoping that we will see more of Emma Lee in the future. This was a fun read and I gave it 3 stars. Special thanks to Edelweiss and Witness for the opportunity to read and review this book.

If you haven't read a Tonya Kappes book yet, do it. I have read quite a few, and have never been disappointed. This series is one of my favorites, and it really highlights how wonderful her books are. They are lighthearted and funny, but also have a great mystery. The balance she meets between the two works perfectly. One second I'm laughing, and the next I'm on the edge of my seat. I'm not even sure how to describe how amazingly well her writing brings a story to life. I have no problem seeing everything unfold in my mind. Tonya's books are a great escape for me whenever I want to take a break. This book had a lot of surprises and I loved all of them. What I loved even more was how it all came together.

Good mystery. It kept you guessing to the end. People are being murdered. This picks up right from the end of A Ghostly demise. Lots of drama, small town life, ghosts and clean read. I like the characters, especially Emma Lee Raines. I want things to go right for her. The whole town thinks she is crazy because they see her talking to herself. She risks her life for her between clients so they can move on. She needs to find their murder before they can go. Only her boyfriend the sheriff knows. Her business the family funeral home Eternal Slumber is hurting because of this. Even her Grandmother thinks she has problems. Her sister is mad at her. There is humor, the one ghost Mamie Sue really wants her dentures to be found and put in her casket. More worried about that then who murdered her. The setting is Sleepy Hollow Kentucky a small town. I wonder what will happen next in Emma Lee's life next! I was given this ebook to read for free and in return agreed to give a honest review and be part of it's blog tour.

Awesome Series! This is an awesome series; this is the fourth book in the Ghostly Southern Mysteries series by Tonya Kappes. This book can be read as a standalone but once you read this one you will want to go back and read the other books in this series. Emma Lee Raines can see ghosts of people who have been murdered. Emma Lee was hoping to have a break with helping ghosts but no such luck. Mamie Sue Preston was the richest woman in Sleepy Hollow and now she is bugging Emma Lee to solve her murder. Emma Lee puts her sleuthing skills to the test trying to find the killer or killers. If you love reading mystery books with humor then you need to read this book. The characters in this book are so fun and will leave you guessing until the end who the killer or killers are. I can’t wait until the next book in this series comes out. A Review copy was provided to me in exchange for a fair and honest review. The free book held no determination on my personal review.
