“Time stretched out in front of her, a lifetime spent without the man she’d loved since she was a girl..” ~ A Heart’s Obsession A Heart’s Obsession, by Colleen Coble, is book two of a six-part Journey of the Heart series. It’s an emotionally charged read and difficult to put down. With a theme of perseverance, and fighting for what you want, this story delivers. The ‘mini’ stories concept is pretty cool. Each installment is easily read in a day, but the content doesn’t suffer. It overflows with action, adventure, and love. Each character is easy to friend, and difficult to part with. Even though this time period, 1866, is relatively new to me, I was quickly sucked into the series. I didn’t start this series at the beginning. I started with book 3, and am working my way backward. Even though it’s unconventional (and totally unplanned to read it out of order) each installment is full and interesting on its own. I’ve grown to love Sarah and Rand, and can’t wait to delve further in their lives. I love it when a story surprises you. You expect things to go left and they take a turn to the right. That’s what happens in A Heart’s Obsession. Not necessarily big shockers—but twists that keep you turning pages, investing yourself a little deeper into the story. I’ve read other works by Colleen Coble and I’ve never been disappointed. From the settings to the character arcs, I love every aspect of her writings, and can’t wait to read the complete Journey of the Heart series. 4.5 Stars Cover: Love it Title: Love it Publisher: Thomas Nelson Pages: 128 Pace: Fast First lines: The town of Wabash, Indiana, bustled with activity as the horse’s hooves clopped along the plank street and up the hill. Rand Campbell reined in the mare pulling the family buckboard and stopped in front of the train depot. A Heart's Obsession is the second book in Colleen Coble's Journey of the Heart series. It picks up right where the first book, A Heart's Disguise, leaves off. Rand has left their small town of Wabash, Indiana, again. After Sarah's father passes away from his long time illness, she decides to pick up her life and go after her one true love. In true Coble style, though, nothing goes as planned. Sarah gets the surprise of her life when she gets to Fort Laramie. Can Sarah trust the Lord with the new reality of her life? I honestly didn't like Rand in this story. He came off as cold and compassionless to Sarah's plight. Hopefully, that changes in the books to come. Trouble follows Sarah to Fort Laramie in the form of Ben Croftner. I will be interested to see what happens later on with him. He is the true definition of evil and scary. Overall, I really enjoyed this latest installment to the Journey of the Heart series and look forward to the next one! *I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher through the Litfuse blogging program in exchange for my hones review.*

This was a good addition to a nice series. In fact this one was even better than the first book. Just like the first book this reads very fast as it is just a small part of a bigger story. Even though it is a quick read and a small book it does not lack for content.  The characters are very developed and I like how the author describes the scenes. The only bad part about this book is that it ends too soon. You want it to keep going so that you can see what is going to happen next. This book will leave you waiting on pins and needles for the next installment. I do suggest reading these books in order.

Colleen Coble in her new book “A Heart’s Obsession” Book Two in the Journey Of The Heart series published by Thomas Nelson takes Sara Montgomery to Fort Laramie, Wyoming. From the back cover: Will Sarah’s journey west lead her back into the arms of the one man she can trust? When her father succumbs to a long illness, Sarah Montgomery is freed from duty to family. At last she can be with the love of her life, Rand Campbell, who has gone out west to Fort Laramie, Wyoming. Sarah and her younger brother Joel make the arduous journey filled with hope. But at Fort Laramie, the reception Sarah meets isn’t what she had hoped for. Her friend Amelia is thrilled to have her, but Rand seems to be in the clutches of Jessica DuBois, the scheming daughter of the post commander. Sarah resolves to remain at Fort Laramie and try to win Rand back. But things will get tougher before they get easier . . . especially when her ex-fiancé Ben Croftner arrives in Wyoming, obsessed with having her back in his arms. “A Heart’s Obsession” is book two in the Journey Of The Heart series. If you really want to know just what is going on you need to read book one, “A Heart’s Disguise”. Rand has gone to Wyoming while Sarah stays with her father. Then he dies freeing Sarah to go find Rand and marry him. And that is the set-up for this book. All the elements are there as Sarah arrives and Rand has messed everything up. Just when you think it cannot get any worse the ex-fiance of Sarah shows up. There is a whole lot going on in the ninety-eight pages of story that you are going to want to read for yourself. Sarah and Rand are such wonderful characters and we get so emotionally involved with them it seems as though we have been friends with them forever. This is a fast-paced read that will keep you guessing as to what is really going on. I recommend this book highly! After Rand leaves for the Wyoming territory, Sarah’s dying father says she must follow her heart and Rand. Packing up her younger brother, she asks to accompany newlyweds Jacob and Amelia to their assignment at Fort Laramie. She hopes to meet up with Rand and renew their engagement. Little does she know that her former fiancé, Ben, is headed that direction, also, with a determination to have Sarah back. Thinking Sarah is lost to him, Rand begins to court the commander of the fort’s daughter. Will Sarah travel across the country, to have her heart broken again in the wilds of Wyoming? This is the second installment the series of novellas. I have read everything Colleen Coble has written, so I was excited to have an opportunity to read this. This is her first work. I did not feel the characters had the depth nor did the story line flow like most of her other books do. I received this from NetGalley for my honest opinion.

A Heart’s Obsession is the second book in Colleen Coble’s Journey of the Heart series, and like the first we are left with a cliffhanger. When we begin this book Rand has departed for Ft Laramie, Wyoming, Indian Territory. He has left Sarah Montgomery devastated. She is now dealing with the grief of loosing her Dad and the love of her life. She begins her journey to Wyoming with her brother Joel and her best friend Amelia. We are about to experience what she finds when she gets there, and the long arm of evil. The evil appears to come in different forms, and we root for the defeat. Of course the Ben from the first book shows up again, and now there is another person. Another quick read, and has me wanting more, I want to know what happens, and can hardly wait! I received this book through Litfuse Blogger Book Tours, and was not required to give a positive review.

The story of Sarah Montgomery and Rand Campbell continues in the second installment of Colleen Coble’s Journey of the Heart novella series. The series is comprised of six short stories and they really do need to be read in order. I am enjoying this collection. In A Heart’s Obsession, I felt so sorry for Sarah and the situation she finds herself in. Heartbroken after the death of her father, she ends up finding more heartache when she travels with her friends to Fort Laramie. Rand is no help, and in fact is at the heart of the problem. He has made choices in both book one and two that frustrated me. But, I am looking forward to continuing on in this journey and seeing how everything builds in the storyline. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher, through Litfuse Publicity, in exchange for an honest review.

The adventure continues in this second installment of the Journey of Heart serialization. Colleen Coble’s writing is descriptive and emotion-filled! In A Heart’s Obsession, tension continues to mount, unexpected events occur, and the conclusion of the story leaves characters in jeopardy and readers desperate for more. I enjoyed this short story and am eager to continue the journey in next month’s release, A Heart’s Danger. The Journey of the Heart serialization begins with A Heart’s Disguise and includes six installments that will release monthly from March through August. These stories were originally published in two books, Where Leads the Heart and Plains of Promise. A complimentary copy of A Heart’s Obsession was provided to me through Litfuse Publicity. I appreciate the opportunity to read this book and offer my honest opinion.

A Heart's Obsession, Colleen Coble Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews. Genre: Historical Romance.   Well, this instalment went better for me, I began to get to know the characters. Sarah is in a hard place, and if she stays now her father has died her brother is going to force her to marry Ben. She still loves Rand though, and now that she’s seen a side of Ben she never knew, he’s the last person she wants to marry. She escapes by going to the Fort with her best friend and her husband, Rand’s brother, taking her younger brother with them. What a shock though when after a terrible journey they get to the fort to find Rand engaged. I really felt for her, could feel just how shocked and upset she was. His fiancée is a great character (great in that I love a “good” bad person, instead of just all sweet, kind ones), a real nasty, jealous woman, though she only shows the sweet side in public. Sarah stays, she tells Rand she only wants him to be happy, but when she sees what Jessica is really like she wonders if there’s still hope for them to be together, and if she can win him back.   Its a good read, packed with emotion and drama and full of life as it was back then, tough, limited choices and the dangerous and strange relationship between Soldiers and Indians. Sarah is making a place for herself there. as a single lady looking after her younger brother but its all very edgy, and I could feel the tension, that things could change any moment. Bad Ben turns up again too – still after Sarah and that adds to the feel of stress and strain. My only problem with this book is like the last one – its so short at just under 800 kindle locations again. If this was three full sized novels I’d love it, but as it is for me it just doesn’t do justice to the story it could be – but remember as ever we all want different things, and there are millions of readers that want shorter reads of course. Stars: Four, a fun read, with emotion and drama and if it was longer for me this would probably be a five. ARC supplied by Netgalley and publisher.

Friday, April 10, 2015 A Heart's Obsession by Colleen Coble, © 2015 Journey of the Heart series Part 2 of 6 in the Journey of the Heart series ~ I've made some massive changes to them, and I hope you enjoy these new, updated stories. This installment begins to show what Sarah faces in winning Rand back again. --author Colleen Coble My review: This six-part novella series is a reissue of the Wyoming series, earlier works by Colleen Coble ~ Where Leads the Heart and continuing Plains of Promise, to be enjoyed by new readers and renewed by those who read them when they were first published almost a decade ago. The story continues as Sarah Montgomery travels through the American West with her brother, Jacob, and his wife, and their younger brother, Joel, to Fort Laramie, Wyoming. Thinking her constant friend, Lieutenant Rand Campbell, will be so pleased to see her, Sarah finds she is mistaken as he has moved on without her. As the tribal chiefs near the fort have asked to have their children schooled, Sarah is requested to teach them English and reading and writing. She makes friends with two of the older teenagers, Morning Song and Ah-ho-appa. Change enters into the lives of Morning Song, daughter of White Raven, and a Sioux chief's daughter, Ah-ho-appa; and those at the fort, Jessica and her mother, Letty, and Amelia. Being introduced to new characters, brings them into the story as we continue to learn of the new life before Sarah at Fort Laramie. Trouble comes when Ben Croftner arrives and causes havoc. Will there be retaliation in the midst of winter, removing peace between the fort and the Indian encampment? (to be continued in next month's issue...) These are the six serial parts published in short installments at regular intervals, as a novel appearing in successive issues of a magazine. The blog tour dates are monthly, March through August, 2015. Book One ~ A Heart's Disguise; Book Two ~ A Heart's Obsession; Book Three ~ A Heart's Danger; Book Four ~ A Heart's Betrayal; Book Five ~ A Heart's Promise; Book Six ~ A Heart's Home. ***Thank you to Litfuse Publicity Group for inviting me to join the blog tours for the Journey of the Heart series by Colleen Coble, and to Thomas Nelson Publishers for sending me a copy of Book Two, A Heart's Obsession for review. Sometimes our heart isn't willing to let go of any chance for love, especially when it comes to Sarah Montgomery. When she believed the only man she loved was killed in war, she wept but wanted to believe in the possibility that there might have been a mistake. However with her brother Wade pressuring her to marry Ben Crofter, she believes this is the best life has to offer her and hopes in time she may learn to love again. But when Rand Campbell returns and finds Sarah on the verge of marriage it is more than he can handle. What's more is that she won't leave her ill father behind to follow Rand as he plans to head west to Fort Laramie, Wyoming to join the army as a soldier. So Sarah wonders what life is left for her when her father unexpectedly dies, leaving her future in the hands of her brother Wade once more. Sarah knows that she must do all she can to make Rand understand the reasons why she couldn't leave and hopes it isn't too late when she takes her younger brother Joel and they head west. When Sarah arrives, she is more than shocked to learn that Rand has also moved on and has already made plans to wed Jessica DuBois, who is less than thrilled to learn of Sarah's connection to Rand. She isn't about to make life at the fort easy and will do anything she can to ensure her marriage to Rand is successful no matter what Sarah tries to do. I received A Heart's Obsession by Colleen Coble compliments of Thomas Nelson Publishers and Litfuse Publicity for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review and the opinions contained here are strictly my own. This is the second book in the Journey of the Heart Series and makes one truly hunger for more. This is the first series, best selling author Colleen Coble wrote while dealing with the sudden death of her own brother's death whom she immortalizes in the character of Rand. It is short enough to read in about a couple of hours at about 98 pages, but feels like a much bigger novel. The first book, A Heart's Disguise is the beginning of this series, and would need to be read first for the reader to grasp the history of Rand and Sarah's beginnings. I rate this one a 5 out of 5 stars and look forward to the next one!

Book Description " Can a woman held captive by her family make it back to the one man she knows she can trust? When Sarah Montgomery's father succumbs to his long illness, Sarah is faced with a life-altering choice: submit to her brother's will and marry the deceptive Ben Croftner . . . or escape through the dangerous American West to reclaim the heart of her beloved Rand Campbell at Fort Laramie, Wyoming. From captivity in her family's home, Sarah makes her decision-and begins the perilous journey to Wyoming by train. But even in the company of Rand's brother, Sarah does not receive the reception she had hoped for. The necessity of a military wife has preempted her, and Rand is already engaged to Jessica DuBois, the seductive daughter of the post commander. With her heart broken and her life in ruins, Sarah has no choice but to remain at Fort Laramie and try to win Rand back. But things will get tougher before they get easier . . . the obsessive Ben Croftner has just shown up in Wyoming." A Heart's Obsession is book 2 of 6 in the Journey of the Heart series which has just been released by Colleen Coble. It was her first series and was originally titled Where Leads the Heart and Plains of Promise.  The books in this series are short, only around 100 pages and are quick and easy reads. I shared in my review of A Heart's Disguise that I am not a huge fan of series that are longer than 3 books.  They are of course written to keep you reading through the whole series so just when the story really starts to be developed it cuts off and you have to wait for the next book.  Plus I think publishing 6 separate books adds an extra cost to the consumer.  But as I mentioned before it appears as though this series will be released soon in one volume.  That is the way I would prefer to read it, but some people like the suspense of waiting for the new one to be released. Colleen Coble has written a very good story that has had the designed effect on me.  After reading the first book I couldn't wait to review the second.  And now after finishing the second book I can't wait to read the third! It has everything you want in a book: christian romance, action, adventure, suspense, a villain or two, and those like us who have some character development to do.  I am eager to see where the adventure leads next!  I will be eagerly awaiting the next book.
