This starts out a simple love story, bits of humor, a few offhand references to God before the Christian aspect comes noticeably into play. Not too heavy handed, added to the story rather than detracted. The very end was a bit heavy with it but not unexpected. Overall a good way to write a clean, Christian romance that is still a good story. First time I enjoyed a Christian romance all the way thru. Kudos on a job well done.

It was a nice story. I really enjoyed the characters. Especially amelia. she reminds me of myself and how Ibumbpe through things. The fact that she didn't know French or how to dance or the proper ways to address and converse with nobilty, I found odd...just what did her governess teach her?. I thought they were supposed to teach that. Anyway... great story. And I enjoyed how all the servants would work behind the scenes to subtly bring Anthony and Amelia together and punish--in a passive-aggressive way, those who said anything bad about her. Great bunch. Loved it!

The author has a religious agenda, but it does not get in the way of the story telling. I loved the humor in this book. It is a very entertaining read.

I totally fell in love with the characters and the storyline. I love almost all this authors books. Some of her comments in some of her books I disagree with her biblical stance, but I didn't find anything that I disagreed with is this one, so that, along with the story is why I gave it 5 stars. I love how she has the characters reading the Bible and shows them as having a strong desire to do so.

CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEXT ONE!!!

Not the most well developed book. Fairly ridiculous beginning. Better editing would have been helpful. Yet, the fact that story was clean was a relief.

A young girl finds herself an orphan and sent to a distant relative to live. The relative has a "low' title and does agree to sponsor her. However, it is so absentminded he leaves her on her own until she becomes 11 and decides she needs more help than he can give. She is sent off again to another distant relative to live with that family. She knows once she becomes of age she will most likely be on her own and the sponsorship will be withdrawn. A week before her 21st birthday someone comes to her house to inform her she will once again be sent to another household because her current sponsor has died. She cannot believe what is happening as the papers keep indicating she is 11 even though she is approaching her 21st birthday. Once she is taken to the new household her life changes. Changes dramactally.

I wished I would have read this prequel before reading the Hawthorne House series because it sets up the premise nicely! But you don't have to of course, I just think it enhances it more and gives you some background to the characters. So going backwards, this answers some questions I had about who Amelia & Anthony were and how their relationship started. I loved seeing these two fall in love! It also reminded me in a way of a rags to riches kind of story for Amelia. Having been elevated in class the day she became a Dukes ward....and this is where we first meet Griffin; Mr. swoon worthy himself! We are also introduced to the rest of the Hawthorne clan. I loved getting to know more about Amelia and Anthony and how they found their happily-ever-after. A fun prequel with plenty of depth & characterization!

Loved the complex and sassy characters who defy the expectations of society. Plot was well thought out. Th8s authors strengths is in her character development; their thoughts and interactions are realistic, complex, yet refreshing and entertaining.

A delightful historical romance novella! This wonderful story introduces us to a new writer and her first series of books. I love her style of writing and found that she has a wonderful knack for inserting very humorous situations throughout the story. The development of the main characters is fantastic. I fell in love with Amelia Stalwood from very early on. We are given a glimpse of what her childhood was like in the prologue. It made me feel like wrapping my arms around her and to help her to feel loved. I then found that she hadn’t let it make her mean in any way. She cares about others and that shines through with everyone she meets. Anthony Pendleton is carrying memories of what he used to be like and he expects everyone to still be judging him by his past mistakes. That includes people that didn’t even know him before he changed. I enjoyed seeing his journey as he dealt with this. I’m looking forward to reading the rest of this series. I think I have found another favorite author.

Read about the story of Amelia. She is a ward of the viscount who ignores her then sends her to London. Ten years later she is a young lady and thru a series of mishaps falls into the arms of the Marquis. Then starts a great story of how she becomes friends with the Hawthornes and becomes part of the ton in London. Or does she? Great read.

For those who want a fun, "clean" romance (aka no adult situations in the bedroom) then this is for you! I laughed at the humor and absolutely love the cute romance between the two main characters. And yes, I already bought her first full novel and plan to read the second one coming out this summer.

A Lady of Esteem is a touching story of Amelia who is unwanted by her parents, orphaned, and the ward of an absentminded viscount who sends her to live at his house in London. Her guardian forgets that she is growing up during the ten years she lives in London with his house staff. Although Amelia is an aristocrat, she grows up with servants as her only friends. Lord Anthony Raebourne, a new Christian, has never paid any attention to his servants and is amazed to find they can be friends and helpful in his pursuit of Amelia. This is my first book by Kristi Ann Hunter but I will be looking for more books by her! The story moved at a quick pace and kept me turning pages. I received the e-book of A Lady of Esteem from Bethany House.
