Overview

What's a girl to do after being ditched at the altar by text message? That's right. Text. Message.

How does she pick up the pieces and move on? I'm no Dear Abby but here's a little free advice...

Advice #1 – First, purge your apartment of all things him—by tossing his belongings off the balcony.

Advice #2 – Do not, I repeat do not, throw anything out into the hallway because you'll injure your hot new neighbor.

Advice #3 – When said neighbor brings over Chinese Food do not let him stay and keep you company. It's awkward when you realize he's your boss.

Advice #4 – Accept his offer to help you with your side business but think twice before using a date to his sister's wedding as collateral.

Advice #5 – Investigate who your mystery neighbor really is. Don't trust his word even if he's the world's best kisser.

If you listen to nothing else, pay attention to that last one. It's the most important and will save you a lot of heartache.

Xo,
LOVESICK IN LAKE STARLIGHT

I absolutely fell hard and fast for Brooklyn and Wyatt and the entire Bailey clan; what a fabulous family they are. I really love small town romances and found myself wishing that I could be a part of the Lake Starlight , Alaska community. However it can also make it harder to live in, as in Brooklyn’s case the whole town is aware that she has been left at the altar by her jerk of an ex-fiancee. When Wyatt moves in to the apartment next door to where Brooklyn is living , despite themselves they become closer. I admire Brooklyn with her strength and determination to pick herself up, hold her head up and get on with her life. Things become complicated as she and Wyatt get closer, particularly when she discovers he is her boss. The chemistry between Brooklyn and Wyatt is intense and cannot be ignored. Can a woman form a small town and a man from the big city merge their lives together or are they destined to be pulled apart by circumstances and family duty? I loved this book from start to finish and highly recommend you one click.

This is the second book in the Baileys series. I really love this family. They all have such different personalities, but you can feel how close they are. I love their Grandma Dori. she's such a hoot! I felt for Brooke her ex-fiancee is a cowardly guy. I liked what she did as soon as she got home because I would have done the same. I really enjoyed reading Wyatt and Brooke's story. They have chemistry between them and their banter was one of my favorite parts of the book. I also felt for Wyatt because of his relationship with his dad and how he makes Wyatt feel. This book has the humor that I love about Piper Rayne's books. Plus the set up for the next book has me eagerly awaiting it!

Their meet cute and her chucking a book and it conking him on the head as he walks by in the hall. How could I possibly not like this book? Brooklyn is sweet but has an iron spine (even if she doesn't quite know it yet) and is the sort of Hufflepuff that every family needs. Her siblings are hilarious, and I'm looking forward to reading more of this series so I can read their stories as well. I love how supportive their entire family is, and the way they treat Wyatt is great. OH! And Brooklyn's Grandma is such a treat! I do love a meddling, slightly eccentric older lady in a romance. ;) I had a little harder time getting a bead on Wyatt. They kept referring to his "dark" past, but didn't really elaborate much except to say he was a major player. Um, ok? That's not really that awful... It sounds like he participated in a lot of totally consensual hook-ups where both parties knew the score, so... Kind of some unnecessary drama with him worrying about his "dark past" and what a "horrible person" he was. And then there's the Big Drama where they're back in New York and he's all "you're not going to like New York Wyatt," and "whatever happens in there, don't leave without me." OK dude, way to be SUPER overdramatic. This is the second book in The Baileys series, but can be read as a stand alone with limited spoilers for the first book in the series. The epilogue is also a bit of a segway into the next book in the series, Birth of a Baby Daddy (which I really want to read, despite the HORRIBLE TITLE and the fact that I don't normally care for the secret/surprise baby trope).

YES, SO MUCH YES! I am in LOVE with the Bailey's. Seriously, could this family get any better?! The answer is NO. After reading the first book, Lessons from a One-Night Stand, I have a pretty good idea what Brooklyn's story would be, but this story was so much more. Lake Starlight is a small town with it's pros and cons, but it sure seems to have a pull on people, or maybe it's just the spectacular Bailey family that does it--either way these newcomers are always in for one hell of a ride. Brooklyn is so strong, but also so sweet and caring. She's definitely someone you'd want to have as a friend or a sister. Wyatt comes from a privileged background, and while it definitely shows at times, he may just be more than meets the eye. The friendship these two develop is just so fun. And you will not be disappointed in their journey. This brings me to one of the things that makes the Bailey's books so wonderful, and that's the relationships. The family dynamics are just so wonderful, and seeing the interactions between many of the different family members and even their close friends is just so heartwarming. Just so everyone knows, I'm keeping my eye on Savannah and Liam! And I won't even spoil the BOMB that dropped at the end of this book, but seriously you should probably go read it so we can flail together!! I am already counting the days until Book 3 (42 DAYS incase you were wondering). Thank you so much to Piper Rayne and Inkslinger PR for the eARC in exchange for an honest review. I will be ordering a physical copy asap!

This duo of authors has done it once again; they’ve managed to write an amazing book that made me laugh, smile, and even cry a little! I’m giving this 5 out of 5 stars. This review is for an ARC, and reflects my honest opinion. I’ve always enjoyed the writing from these two, but this series has been my favorite by far. There was just something about Lake Starlight, and the Baileys, that gave me all the feels. I felt like we didn’t see much of Brooklyn in the first book, but in this, I felt a kinship with her from basically page one. She was sweet, kind, had been screwed over, was family orientated, etc. Wyatt was a great guy overall. As I was reading, I couldn’t help but be a little iffy about him given the circumstances. But by the end, he really showed me that I should’ve had no qualms rooting for him (I mean obviously since it’s a romance, but you get my point). He showed us in so many moments that he was a thoughtful and sexy man. I loved getting to see more of the Bailey clan, especially Grandma Dori. I also liked how Brooklyn had a closer bond with some of her siblings that Austin hadn’t been that close with in the previous book; it gave me a chance to see more of their personalities before their upcoming novels. And the epilogue’s ending…I need the next book ASAP! I can’t wait to see what happens with that situation.

Loving this series!! cOh my Lord!!! Can Piper & Rayne get any better? You betcha they can! Advice From A Jilted Bride was simply the best yet, and I freaking loved it. Hard, so, so hard! It’s filled with all the usual funny banter, sexual innuendo and plain old camaraderie we’ve come to expect from this fabulous duo. After reading Lessons From A One Night Stand, I knew this series was going to be superb and even though this is only book 2 of it, so far, it’s proving to be true. We met Brooklynn in the first book, and now it’s her turn to tell her story. She and Wyatt made quite the pairing, they were sexy and funny, just sooo good together. Being back with the Balley’s is like coming home, Brooklynn was left at the altar by her douche fiance, but now it’s time to get her act back together and ditch the past. Wyatt is Brooklynn’s neighbor and they keep meeting. Wyatt is a mystery and one that Brooklynn wants to unwrap. Maybe even do more than that, lol. Sex on a stick, Wyatt, knows he should keep his distance but Brooklynn proves more than he can resist and it’s not long before the attraction drawns them closer and closer. This was a much slower burning romance than usual for these two authors. It allowed time for the main characters to grow and develop. Having the Bailey family back in the picture, with all the carry-ons that happen was part of the fun too. I am in love with this series and can’t wait for more.

3.5 stars — This is the first book I’ve read by this author duo, but it sounded super intriguing so I had to give it a try! I will admit that if you think you’re going to want to read the whole series, then you should definitely read them in order. I love interconnected stories, but I felt like this one gave a bit more away from the first book than I’m used to because the family is SO CLOSE. Something to keep in mind. It took me a bit to warm up to Wyatt…at the very beginning he kind of had some dickish moments. And I guess he sort of was supposed to, because we’re supposed to watch him grow and change…but honestly? I felt like he changed really suddenly and I wanted something a bit more gradual. It’s like, all it took was moving to a small town with a crazy close fun family, and bam he changes? I don’t know…I wanted something more there. I was also expecting something much deeper or more scandalous in his past with his father…they built it up to be this big thing, and while I think it was hard, the reactions were bigger than I thought reasonable for the kind of trauma he indicated… Brooklyn was pretty easy to love. She was sweet, genuine, but with a bit of backbone and sass. Honestly the few times she would get really angry threw me off, but then I remembered that it was under extreme circumstances. I loved how she gradually grew stronger and more confident in herself. Their romance was pretty sweet, even as I couldn’t always understand what was so special to change things. But damn, they frustrated me too. The fact that Wyatt couldn’t see what I thought was a very obvious solution, and he never did come up with it on his own, left me disappointed in him. I wanted him to figure it out. Ah well. This book had a LOT of funny moments that had me laughing out loud. I loved the Bailey family dynamics, and will admit that that was definitely a highlight for me… Particularly Rome. That guy was hilarious. One last aside. While I do realize what I read was an ARC, I found the writing was not as smooth as I’d like. I expect typos and shiznit, but there were moments where the paragraphs didn’t flow one after another. Like someone would say something, and then another person would reply but it wouldn’t follow. It was like they moved around paragraphs but didn’t reread it to make it make sense. Hopefully there was one last edit before the final, but usually it’s only proofing between ARCs and final, so that did throw me off. It’s too bad, b/c I think they have a fun voice, they just need a bit more polish. While this wasn’t a hit out of the park for me, I REALLY enjoyed the Bailey family dynamic, and I know I’ll be checking out more books in this series!

Piper Rayne you have outdone yourselves with the Bailey clan. I absolutely am head over heels in love with this family.... their shenanigans, their love for each other and their witty banter with so many laugh out loud moments! Wyatt and Brooklyn's story was a slow burn romance that had me seduced with their chemistry and enamored with these two page after page that I couldn't put it down. This series is unequivocally my favorite of this amazing duo, which says so much considering I love everything they write!

My first Piper Rayne book, but definitely not my last! Advice from a Jilted Bride was a fun read. Brooklyn and Wyatt are a great couple, even if he did start things off by keeping a few fairly important facts from her. There were a whole lot of bits that made me smile or even LOL--the Baileys are now one of my new favorite families!--and a healthy number of swoon-worthy ones as well. Plus, a puppy. Who could have had a little more page time, but still... You don't have to have read book one of the series ( Lessons from a One-Night Stand ) before this one, though Austin and Holly's history is alluded to more than once and they play a part here. (I'll be getting my hands on it ASAP, but that's me...) The epilogue ends with one heck of a teaser for the next book--one of Brook's twin brothers; darn Piper Rayne for not telling us which one it is yet!--and you'd better believe I'm counting the days until its release... Rating: 4 stars / B+ I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

"Have you considered the fact that maybe I was waiting for you to be over him?" Holy crow how swoony is that?!? Advice From A Jilted Bride is the second book in the Baileys series.  Piper and Rayne have yet again captivated and pulled me into their world of Lake Starlight. This is Brooklyn's story.  She is the third oldest Bailey. I like how Piper and Rayne are writing the stories that come to them and not just going down the line from oldest to youngest siblings. Brooklyn has been devastatingly been left at the altar.  Broken up by text message! What a douchcanoe was her fiancé? You could tell that some of her siblings didn't like the man and with good reason. Wyatt is trying to find his way in the world, he has come to Lake Starlight to prove himself worthy of his last name.  To prove to his father that he is capable of running the family business.  Meeting Brooklyn, in a painful way, puts a bit of a monkey wrench in said plans.  But was his original plan worth it?  I think not! I loved the slow burn of this story, the true friendship that developed between Brooklyn and Wyatt.  And yes, this is Piper Rayne's longest book to date, but to do this story justice it had to be. You get to see all the Bailey siblings again and some new secondary characters that bring even more brilliance to this story! Love the angst, love the humor, love the romance and smexiness! You ladies have done it again!

Is there a happily ever after in the cards for a heartbroken, cynical, jilted bride? It's always a joy to read a Piper Rayne original. With humor, heart and that sassy wit, we all know and love, this duo is able to heat up bookshelves and e-readers everywhere. Advice From a Jilted Bride could be described as the anti - romance, except that wouldn't be the Piper Rayne way. Brooklyn and Wyatt remind us that cynicism is only a happy ending away. Love is always sweeter the second time around.
