I was very disappointed in this book, I pre-ordered it and waited for months for it to arrive.  I had finished    the book before it in the series, "Brothers In Blood",  the hero, Chet had been wounded and was on his death bed. I assumed "Ambush Valley"  was a continuing story. It was not! It went back to the first books in the series, only with more detail and then just stopped. It never got close to the time period where he got shot. I wanted to find out wha   what happened after that, not go back to the first of the series and read the whole thing again.

If you are a fan of westerns, you owe it to yourself to read this book, the Byrnes Family Ranch series & anything else Dusty Richards writes. He has a wonderful way of telling an authentic believable story about the ups and downs faced in life in the old west. I personally love the fact that his writing reflects a great love of real west facts and folks, incorporated in a story that can be trusted to be read by many ages. He does so without offensive content but still stays true to real life situations. Mr. Dusty Richards is a Godly American patriot who is not afraid to write with the strength of his convictions and does so without apology or offensiveness and arrogance. I hope he continues to write more real west tales for a very long time!
