This biography focuses on Amelia' s flying career with detailed emphasis on her final flight. The book is enhanced by the authors' background in aviation. The description of the confusion and miscommunications re. radio frequencies for her trip to Howland Island leaves little doubt as to the dangers that were inherent during those early years of flight. I was glad that the authors praised both Earhart and Noonan for their courage and professionalism. I do wish that Mr. Long had given a brief explanation of "dead reckoning" at the beginning of his narrative. It would have made the sometimes technical account more understandable. Overall, a worthwhile and convincing book.

This is the most plausible and authoritative answer to what went wrong on the flight. The Longs bring a lot aviation experience to the table and paint a picture of an enterprise which was riskier and more daring than what it might seem. This was an era in which some of the people who pushed the envelope lost. Enjoyable and informative.
