A powerful drug lord threatens to bring America to its knees.
Only one man can stop him.
Two years ago, Secret Service Agent Matthew Richter faced the most difficult decision of his life, knowing that by saving the former, the latter would die. In the aftermath, he fled Washington and the agency that failed him. With wounds he's certain will never heal, he seeks refuge behind a gun as the commander of an FBI SWAT team in New York. After a raid turns sour and Richter is sidelined, possibly for good, he is reluctantly drawn back to Washington by the man he once saved.
When drug cartels threaten to topple the Mexican government and the violence begins to spill across the border, Richter tells President David Kendall it's time to take off the gloves. One by one, cartel warehouses and tunnels are raided and their drug caches destroyed. One by one, their sprawling compounds and bank accounts are seized. One by one, drug lords are targeted and killed. One by one-all except, that is, for Pablo Guerrero, the ruthless head of the Sangre Negras cartel, who has only grown stronger as others have fallen.
When the hunt for Guerrero finally draws first blood, he unleashes a war no one is prepared for. Now Richter must stop him before it's too late.

About the Author
L.D. Beyer is a reformed corporate drone who, after twenty-five years of missed family events, one day rose up and reclaimed his soul. Before he escaped, his career primarily involved relocating his family every few years-so much so that his children began to secretly suspect that he was really in the Witness Protection Program. He has yet to set the record straight.
Beyer is the author of three novels, two of which are part of the Matthew Richter Thriller Series. His first book, In Sheep's Clothing, was published in 2015 and reached the #1 spot on three separate Amazon bestseller lists. His third novel, The Devil's Due, is a standalone novel, an historical thriller set in Ireland during the 1920's.
Beyer is an avid reader and, although he primarily reads thrillers, his reading list is somewhat eclectic. You're more likely to find him with his nose in a good book than sitting in front of the TV.
Beyer lives in Michigan with his wife and three children. In addition to writing and reading, he enjoys cooking, hiking, biking, working out, and the occasional glass of wine.

Author L.D. Beyer provided me with a print copy of AN EYE FOR AN EYE, for review. AN EYE FOR AN EYE is the second Matthew Richter Thriller offered by L.D. Beyer. I thoroughly enjoyed the first book in the series, In Sheep's Clothing. So, I was expecting to enjoy this book as well. Well... I was not disappointed! Beyer elevates the franchise with this political/action thriller. This L.D. Beyer guy may be on to something with this series. As with the last book, it is refreshing to read fiction where the government is not populated by liars, cheats, and ego maniacal sleaze-balls. The politicians in this book are honorable people actually concerned with the welfare of the people. Well, it is fiction. Matthew Richter is a well presented hero. He is not overly macho, not full of false bravado, not ego driven, not even a womanizer. He is a man uncomfortable with the mantle of responsibility placed upon him. Truly, the reluctant hero. His character is well developed, as are the other characters in this story. Of course, he is the person who can resolve the problem at hand (It is his book after all), though he is not a one man army. He works and plays well with others. It is great to see that the military personnel, he works with are competent, intelligent people. Well trained and devoted to their duty (another rarity today). This time around, Richter is matching wits with a ruthless Mexican drug lord (is there any other kind?). The action is fast, the violence brutal and graphic, but not gratuitous. Romance plays a part as well, but you really can't label this a romance by any stretch. AN EYE FOR AN EYE does not rely solely on anger, hatred and violence to tell its story. There are very powerful, emotional moments that will break the heart of the reader (ah, ah, ah...no spoilers here). If you are looking for an action oriented read that will play with your emotions, AN EYE FOR AN EYE by L.D. Beyer fits the bill admirably. Enjoy! Mike mikestheaterofthemind.blogspot.com
I was offered An Eye for an Eye for an honest review; having read the first book, In Sheep’s Clothing, I quickly agreed. I loved In Sheep’s Clothing, and this sequel is even better! Once again, Beyer delivered; this was just as suspenseful, if not more! The fast pace action in An Eye for an Eye kept me reading non-stop! It’s impossible to put this book down. His characters were well developed in book 1, but somehow Beyer was able to add more in book 2. Well written, quick read and exceptional writing. I recommend this book to anyone who loves action. This is a HUGE 5 Boundless stars!...Beth
