In Angel of Storms you get to know more deeply the background, thoughts, and motivations of Ryen and Ryeille. They are developed slowly and deeply so that even when something unexpected happens, you know you should have expected it. This leads to new problems which are great fun to see how the characters can get out of then. I have read every published novel by this author and have found them all interesting and enjpyable. I am looking forward to the third book in this trilogy as I can think of a dozen ways it can go from here with each of those dozen having a dozen troubles to resolve... and surely all of my guessing is for naught and Trudi will once again take my mind to places I couldn't imagine before she ain't ed them with words
Trudi Caravan can write characters. I love how real her protagonists are. I love that they have flaws and doubts and morals they hold on to. I am greatly enjoying the way magic is presented and dealt with in this series. It is new and different while still being a sort of classic magic. It is intriguing and well developed. I enjoy the politics and the way decisions have different effects in the world. It is just so well played out. As with any epic fantasy, pacing can get a bit slow in places, things need time to develop and build. I can't wait for book three. Definitely highly recommended!
