Animus (Sleeping Dragons Book 1) by Ophelia Bell

An ancient temple. Seven explorers. And eight dragons to rule them all.

When Erika and her team of archaeologists break the seal on the temple they've been hunting, they unwittingly take the first step in a series of rituals designed to revive the long-sleeping denizens inside. Now, with every breath they take, they inhale air steeped in dragon magic--and perfumed with otherworldly, irresistible desire.

Erika wants nothing more than to prove she's still in control. But when she sets her sights on the figure she is meant to awaken--a red dragon bound in the form of a beautiful man frozen in jade--her resolve is truly put to the test.

And that's when the ambitious, pent-up expedition leader begins to think: Maybe losing control wouldn't be so bad, after all ...

About the Author

Ophelia Bell loves a good bad-boy and especially strong women in her stories. Women who aren't apologetic about enjoying sex and bad boys who don't mind being with a woman who's in charge, at least on the surface, because pretty much anything goes in the bedroom.

Ophelia grew up on a rural farm in North Carolina and now lives in Los Angeles with her own tattooed bad-boy husband and four attention-whoring cats.

3 1/2 stars. It was a unique story. I'm semi- interested in finding out what happens next, however, a was very silly. Still, I enjoyed the read. :)

Short but sexy as hell! I enjoyed the book, wish it was a little longer but it was so hot to read! Definitely will recommend to anyone who likes to read Dragon erotica!

Love the book but it could have been longer.

While the summary was mildly interesting, the plot had serious potential. The writing, however, didn't live up to its potential. The imagery of the temple was decent, and of course the sex was well-described, but the behavior and dialogue was about as believable as the average porno - from the '90's. At times, I even felt the urge to heckle the ridiculous actions of the characters, much like I would when a porno was played in the day-room of my barracks in the army. I recommend not eating popcorn while reading this... you might not be able to resist the urge to throw it at your reader.

Nicely done beginning of this 6 part serial. The characters and story line were intriguing. Part one is a freebie so you can try it out before buying the remainder of the books. Adult read

I like the story it os differntthen others books I've read but am a little disapointed that it was not the whole book and b&n doesn't carry the rest. So I give it 4 1/2 stars. Doesn't anyone write a whole book anymore ?

What a pleasant surprise! I've been in a paranormal/shifter slump for a bit and this has brought my interest back. Not only was this super charged erotic but it has a really interesting story to back it up. Which I think is very difficult to do in only 37 pages. Another thing that’s difficult to do, is leave the short story with a HFN and you’re ok waiting until the next installment comes out. Bravo  Ophelia Bell! Bravo! This is a short story about Erika and her team of archaeologists, looking for a legend Dragon temple. Once the temple is discovered, Erika and her team open the doors to find dragon statues and artifacts. While trying to figure out the mystery of the Dragon temple and statues, they are surrounded by magic that keeps them in an aroused state of mind and body. I really liked this story. I thought the author told a fantastic story in a short amount of time. I thought the storyline was well thought out and unique, the characters are interesting and the sex is phenomenal! Statues, Dragons and Magic, HECK YA!! I will warn some of you that may have issues with a dragon shifter, in dragon form having sex with a human. I thought that was really awesome and I want MORE OF THAT!!! Also one of the characters is bisexual but does not go into detail which I thought was a little disappointing. The only thing that could have made the last sex scene better was if the male dragon was taking on both the male and female humans. SWEET JEZZ-US! OMG! Im about to slide outta my seat just thinking about it. Bring on the dragon orgies! My only complaint is that it’s too short and it would be nice if all the stories were sold together in one set/novel. With that being said there is no cliffhanger but does leave some questions unanswered and the reader wanting more. Overall, I loved it. Like I said before, the story is well told in a short amount of time, the characters are interesting and I cant wait to learn more about each of them (especially Kris). The sex is super erotic and does the job in the arousal territory. I have just one last thing to say… Ophelia Bell, you have a new fan!!
