I have to admit that this is the first Lori Wilde book I've ever read, although I own quite a few books of hers I've just now gotten around to being able to pick one up and I'm kicking myself for having waited so long, I loved this book! Back In The Game is the first book in an all new series Stardust,Texas, this story has elements that I love in a book, a famous sports star Rowdy Blanton famous for his many conquests, who is finally brought to his knees by the virginal Breeanne Carlyle. Rowdy a baseball ex-pitcher has decided to write his biography, for that he'll need a ghostwriter to help get it done, enter Breeanne who works at her family's bookstore and has published a couple of books which didn't exactly sell like hotcakes, so being a huge fan of baseball and Rowdy she jumps at the chance. With some smokin' hot chemistry between these two it's only a matter of time before things start to become less than professional, and the more Rowdy reveals of his childhood and career the deeper Breeanne's feelings for him become. I really enjoyed reading about Breeanne's family the Carlyle's, I'm excited to read the other three sisters stories and see who they find their happily ever afters with, this story was humorous, heart warming and just so much fun to read. Very enjoyable, highly recommended.

A great start to a new series by Lori Wilde, I absolutely loved this book. The perfect story to get you into the mood for baseball season. Loved how Lori, added the element of magic to the romance. Rowdy, ex pitcher, is looking for a ghost writer to write his autobiography. It just so happens, Breeanne is looking to write a book. An added bonus is that she has has a love for baseball. Breeanne has led a sheltered life, due to medical problems but is now ready to fly her wings in the romance department even if it for one night. I highly recommend this book and looking forward to many more books in this series.

Part Of A Series, Contemporary Romance, Professional Sport, Family, Paranormal. This is Part of A Series But It Can Also Be A Stand Alone Book, Just As Each Of These Books Will Be. The Characters Are All Intertwined For Each Book Also. I've Been A Fan Of Lori's For Years But I Must Say I Like The Touch Of Paranormal She Brought To This Book.

Welcome to Stardust! Breanne is a homely looking girl who works in her family's shop, Timeless Treasures, with her sisters and parents, and is enjoying life and striving to set her writing career in motion now that her heart condition is clean and good. After an encounter with Rowdy Blanton, ex pitcher for the Gunslingers, a series of events lead up to a demand for a ghostwriter to write Rowdy's autobiography, and Breanne discovers and purchases a hope chest that just may contain the key to her heart's desire....Breanne and Rowdy embark on an adventure both sexy and sweet, as one learns that love is not a prison, and they both learn that wishes do come true - and a cheetah scarf has many uses!! I loved this book and cannot wait to read about the other sisters in the following series.

A sweet and spicy romance, with a touch of magic and a little bit of suspense. Rowdy is an ex-pitcher for a big league team, trying to come to grips with the end of his career. He's been asked to write his autobiography, and has a couple motivations for doing so. To do it, he's going to need a ghostwriter. Enter Breeanne, a self-professed baseball addict, writer, and huge fan of Rowdy's since she was a kid. With the help of a magical hope chest, she gets the chance at the job of her dreams. Breeanne is a young woman who is ready to start living. After spending most of her life with a heart defect, enduring many surgeries, she is finally healthy. She is also ready to get out from under the overprotective umbrella of her family. A chance encounter with Rowdy at an estate auction gets her fantasies going, and a wish for a writing job brings them together. I loved their encounter at the auction, as sweet and innocent Breeanne is totally flummoxed by Rowdy's assistance when she gets hit by a baseball. Rowdy is drawn to her and doesn't understand why, as she's nothing like the women he's always pursued. When she shows up to interview for the ghostwriter job, he has every intention of turning her down, but ends up hiring her instead. That scene is really funny as he uses her appearance to get rid of the other applicants. Rowdy has an agenda in writing this book, dealing with the general manager of his former team, his injury, and some other reason that is hinted at but not explained until the end of the book. The problem is that he really doesn't want to talk about any of the things that will be included in the book. Instead, he uses his attraction to and fascination with Breeanne to distract her. I loved the two of them together. Rowdy easily sees that Breeanne is an innocent, and once he finds out why, is determined to help her have some fun in her life. He doesn't treat her as if she's fragile, instead he sees her as a strong survivor. As for Breeanne, she wants to do right by the book, and knows she has to get Rowdy to open up to her. Because of the pain she's had in her own life, she can see that there is something that is haunting him. She pushes at him when she needs to, backs off when she sees he's reached his limit. She also has no problem standing up to him when he's being a jerk. I liked the way that they became friends first, before anything else happens. Because of space limitations, review is continued at: http://susans2016readingblog.blogspot.com/2016/01/back-in-game-lori-wilde-avon-feb-2015.html

Teresa Kleeman's review May 30, 15  ·  edit 4 of 5 stars Read in May, 2015 I really liked this new Stardust Texas Novel by Lori. I always love books that have sarcastic and snarky humor. And this book didn't let me down. Meet Rowdy Blanton ex-pitcher of the Dallas Gunslingers. Handsome with the charisma that could charm any girl out of her panties. A man that love and could make people feel good around him. Meet Breeanne Carlyle a loving daughter someone who likes to please instead of making waves. She works in her parents antiques store upstairs where she runs a bookstore. She's a huge baseball fan since her great grandmother was a female baseball player during WWII. Daddy's little girl, and up and coming writer, at least that's what she wants to be. She meets Rowdy at an estate sale when circumstances leads him to help her out. The circumstances is humorous to say the least. Their's a instant attraction when he helps her to her feet. You know the kind, where when you touch and it's electrifying that little static of chemistry.  Their story is a light hearted and humorous adventure of how they find their selves with each other. Both of them have their own story to tell. You will for sorrow, joy and you will just plain crack up at some of the things these two do. I found this book to be such a refreshing read. Theirs even a little mystery in this story as Rowdy decides to write a tell all book about his baseball career. Breeanne interviews for the job to be his ghostwriter and this is when the fun began's. I guarantee that you will laugh when you read this book. I think Lori Wilde wrote another book they will fly out of the park.

Great start to a new series by one of my favorite authors Lori Wilde. It has humor, a bit of intrigue, and of course a fantastic love story. Can't wait for the next book.

Lori Wilde Hits It Out Of The Park! I was provided a copy of this book by the author for the purpose of an honest review and was not compensated in any way. I received a paperback copy of this book and I can picture having my copy get a very well read look to it. Now that Spring training is underway, what a perfect time to read about Rowdy and Breeanne. I hope you’ll find that you’ll also want to read this book again and why not read it in October when baseball starts to wind down. Had to take my dad to a medical appointment and got mad that they had a TV on and disappointed it wasn’t on mute because I didn’t want anything to disrupt my reading experience. At that point, I wished that I had an audio version so I could put earplugs in and just concentrate on the book. One thing that I loved about this book was that neither of our two main characters were perfect. Due to circumstances beyond their control, they have been changed physically that affect them emotionally. But that doesn’t stop them from making a connection. It’s a book that shows that you don’t have to be “picture perfect” to fall in love. One thing I love about this author is that nothing is complete until the book is over – and no cheating or skipping to the end. You don’t want to miss anything good. If you’ve never read this author before - what a great way to “cut your teeth”. Maybe you’ve read her work before but this time she puts in a special piece of furniture and you just have to keep reading to find out what this has to do with our main characters. This book is the first in a new series and I can’t wait until the next book and to see if this piece of furniture makes any further appearances. The only bad news at this time is that I couldn’t find a title or when the book is coming out.

I enjoyed it however I just wished there was a little more conflict. This book reminded me of a fairytale that I can’t remember with an object fulfilling wishes. I liked how Breanne finally decided to take charge of her life and understand the difficulty that she had with not wanting to worry her family. I liked Rowdy, and kind of hope there will be a story with his brother Zach. I loved how he was willing to stick it to Potts and how Breanne wouldn’t let him give up (even if it part of it was for selfish reasons on her part). I would have like to hear more of the story line with Potts and how Rowdy was able to take him down. The one thing that I really wished Rowdy could prove was Potts’s involvement with his assault. Breanne and Rowdy did have a sweet story, and I like how LW let you know whose story would be next with Breanne passing on her chest.

This is a great start to the Stardust series and I really enjoyed the book. There is a great storyline with detailed characters that unfold as the story progresses. This book was hard for me to put down as I was anxious to see Rowdy and Breeanne's relationship bloom. Well worth reading! received copy for review.

Lori Wild is amazing! I love her passionate characters. Breeanne has always been sick, meek, and mild.  She was willing to let everyone else control her life.  She loves to write, wants to learn to live life on her own, and on the edge.   Rowdy has always been in control, self-centered, and living life out loud.  After a career ending injury and loss of sense of self, Rowdy seems to be floundering.  He has deep dark secrets that he isn’t willing to share, until Breeanne has become his ghostwriter.   Caught in a tangle of lies and pushing each other’s boundaries, Rowdy and Breeanne learn that they really do have a lot to learn.  They push through and see their own power and the power they have over each other. I love Back in the Game: A Stardust, Texas Novel.  It shows the power of love and the iron will people have to move beyond their past and live in the here and now.  Don’t let this book pass you by!  Read it! You will love it.

This is a brand new series called Stardust, Texas by the author and it just continues with her wonderful writing and characters. Rowdy is an injured ball player who hires BreeAnne to ghost write his autobiography. She is really a modern day Jane Austen, which is what he calls her. I laughed and cried throughout this story and I cannot wait until the next one.

Back In The Game is an entertaining romance with a hint of magic. I really like how Lori used a Hope Chest to weave some magic into Breeanne and Rowdy's story. It's a small part of their story, but a unique starting point. I really liked Breeanne. She has been through a lot in her life but she doesn't let it hold her back. I like how even though she has a safe place with her family and their business, she has her own dreams she is pursuing. She's not taking the easy way, and she is willing and wants to work hard to prove herself. Working with Rowdy on his book will help her goals, if not her love life too!!  Rowdy wants to do the right thing in life and work, but he has secrets that could hurt more people than just himself. I like his sense of loyalty even as he is so conflicted internally.  Neither Breeanne or Rowdy are perfect and there are quite a few rough patches for them. The fact that they were both so attracted to each other but took their time acting on it really worked for them and what else is happening in their lives right now. Their problems, worries, and hopes make them real. I like that they both see so much good in the other that the other doesn't necessarily see. I could feel the connection between them, and the dialogue between them was catchy, making me part of their world. Their characters really touched me. There are various secondary characters who all have relevant roles in Back In The Game without clogging up the main plot. I liked the strong sub plot and bit of mystery surrounding Rowdy, between this and the budding relationship between Rowdy and Breeanne, Lori kept up a smooth, easy to read, flowing story. The first in a new series, Back In The Game has me excited for the next book in this series. I'd recommend Back In The Game to contemporary romance readers.

Fantastic proposal--leans on the too good to be true side, but definitely dreamy. I liked the idea behind this one--the former ballplayer with the deep, dark secret and the mousy ghostwriter who he inexplicably chooses to write his autobiography--but felt the execution was somewhat lacking. Breeanne was over-the-top with the sweet and innocent virgin bit, and Rowdy...well, his almost two-month plan for taking her virginity was just silly, if he was truly not planning on having a real relationship with her. Why else would three whole weeks be spent on just kissing? That's definitely not a "we're just having sex" plan. The mystical bent--the maybe-magical hope chest that may or may not have brought the two together--was an interesting twist. That at least has me interested to see what it'll do for Jodi, the sister that Breeanne gifted the chest to at the end.  I really wasn't crazy about the narration on this one. She had different voices for Rowdy and Breeanne, but didn't always remember when to use which one. We'd be in Rowdy's head and she'd say something in her Breeanne voice, and vice versa. It threw me out of the story temporarily every time.  Verdict: Okay, but not great. 3 stars / C-

This book immediately caught me up in the story. There is laughter, suspense, sadness,  love and drama. The characters are Breeanna and Rowdy who met years ago when she was in the  hospital. Now many years later when she is finally healthy they meet again.   And both might have just found in each other what they most need.  You will love the scarf!  If you want to find out more about this cute and quirky story...buy this book.  You won't go wrong.   I can't wait for the next book in this new series.

I think I may have found my new favorite book by Lori Wilde. I really enjoyed Back in the Game. This is the first book in her new  Stardust, Texas series Rowdy Blanton has enjoyed a very successful career in baseball. He's had a great time playing the game playing the field with all the ladies chasing after him. Who wouldn't love this sexy baseball player. He's sweet, charming, and has a great personality that made me instantly like this guy. Rowdy has had some rough times to go along with all the good. He's suffered an injury that has made him stop and take a good look at his life.  Breeanne Carlyle has been through the mill but is on the mend now. This girl has survived though so much even when the odds were against her. Now she has the chance to do what she really wants, write and live a little. Rowdy is just the person to add a little excitement to this girl's life. Breeanne is one of those characters that I formed an instant bond with. She is a sweet girl that would do anything for her family, just as they would do anything for her.  I loved the connection with Breeanne and her family. They are a close knit family that loves each other very much and works well together.  There is also a great friendship between Rowdy and his friend Warwick. These two have a great friendship that gives you a sense of family more then friends. Warwick has Rowdy's back and will stand by him no matter what. He also knows when and how to push Rowdy's buttons to get him moving to do what he should do.  I loved watching Rowdy and Breeanne become friends as they were dealing with the instant attraction they felt for each other. They have a lot obstacles to over come and so many things that are going on.There is plenty of drama to deal with, some family issues for Rowdy, and the fact that Rowdy has always been a playboy. He doesn't plan on settling down with anyone, Ever.  The love scenes between these two are so amazingly sweet and romantic. Lori Wilde has done a great job with Rowdy and Breeanne's story. I have to say I was captivated from the beginning to the end. I had moments of laughter, a few tears, and a moment or two I wanted to scream at Rowdy. Overall though I just really enjoyed Back in the Game. I can not wait to see what Ms. Wilde has in store for us with the rest of the series. I know I will be anxiously awaiting the release of the next book in the Stardust, Texas series.  I was given the opportunity to read this great story so that I may share my thoughts with you. As always it has been my great pleasure to share my thoughts with you on Back in the Game.
