Branna Lind's self-esteem rests at the bottom of the Mississippi River. She canceled her "wedding of the decade," though she isn't saying why. She wants life on her own terms, no ready-made job in the family business, no safety net of close-knit kin, and no more betrayal.

College professor James Newbern prizes his bachelorhood. Experience has taught him beautiful women are high-maintenance trouble and Branna fits that type. He is happy to avoid her until the college vice president assigns him to mentor the newest hire--Branna.

Branna is on her way to a new life, but will the scars of the past send her running from love? Even if she stands her ground, can she convince James that she truly is his "type"?

Review Courtesy of April Hollingworth Bayou Born (Fleur De Lis #1)is the first book in what promises to be a breathtakingly wonderful new series. I loved this book so much. It felt like I was breathing the air the characters breathed, while walking the streets with them. So beautiful and enjoyable, Bayou Born is a must read book, I can't wait to read the next book in the Fleur De Lis series. The Review: After breaking off the wedding of the century and telling no one why, Branna finally decides to do what is best for her, move away from the safety net of her family, live on her own and be the teacher she's trained to be. She's determined to live her life her way, picking up the pieces of her self esteem that were scattered all over the Mississippi, and finding out where they fit is just a start. Branna figures out she's stronger than she thought, now if only the past would leave her alone, she might have a chance at moving into her future. College professor James Newbern is a bachelor who likes to know where people fit. After being badly hurt, he's determined to prevent another beautiful woman from doing so again. Meeting the beautiful Branna he's determined to stay away from her, after all, he's dealt with her type before, except, she just won't fit into the 'type' he places her in.  Being asked to be her mentor, by the college professor, James begins to find out that there is more to Branna than just a beautiful face. With a flaring attraction sparking between then, are James and Branna brave enough to realize they're perfect for each other, or will the hurt and betrayal in each of their pasts, prevent them from realizing they're each others perfect type?

First in the Fleur de Lis series by a very talented author. I was drawn in from the start and could not put this book down. The characters are interesting and the story moves along nicely. This is a growing love story and I enjoyed watching Branna and James on their journey. Can't wait for more. Received copy for review.
