Europe, 1529. Despite tragic origins, Haris swore to defend Sultan Suleyman at any cost. Already serving as one of the ruler's closest guardsmen, he valiantly defends the Ottoman's key camp when they come under attack during the siege of Vienna. But when the Janissary's courage on the battlefield leads to an audience with his sovereign, his vows are sorely tested after he's smitten with a stunning harem girl.

Accorded the honor of training the oldest prince, Haris begins a dangerously illicit affair with the beautiful slave. But as palace intrigue and war with the Holy Roman Empire threaten to tear him from the life he desires, he fears he'll be forced to choose between duty and passion.

Will this dedicated hero let his heart triumph over the blade?
