I like to color. I love my son (18 months). I work full time. I want to develop my kid's brain. With intent. I search for things we can do together--not just side by side, but face to face. So, where we had been coloring in different mediums (me: adult coloring book, Kiddo: plain paper), this #BigAndLittleColoringDevotional let's us do it TOGETHER. Finally, while discussing faith with a toddler might seem silly, studies show patterns that remain develop when they're little.

I am a nurse and mom of two little girls, ages 2 and 4. Between keeping up with my sweet but oh so very chatty girls, and working in a hugely social and intense profession, AND having my own big side projects going on, the sensitive introvert in me STRUGGLES to maintain meaningful connection with my kids (and my own self, and God) when I just feel crazy and drained all the time. This coloring devotional, however, has been an absolute God-send for me and has been so special for my relationship with my 4-yr old. She LOVES it and constantly asks if we can sit down together and do "our" coloring book. We sit across from each other, open to a page of her choice and start coloring.... and in the midst of it, we talk about the truths about God that are highlighted on that page. It calms my frazzled heart, focuses me on God as well as my child, and gives me and my daughter a most precious time to talk, color each other's pages, and just be together without all the other pulls of life. This has TRULY given me times of oasis *with* my child in what otherwise feels like mostly chaos. I can't say enough about this book. I've ordered so many for friends, and want to order 20 more copies so that I have more to do with both my girls once our first copy is done! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

The first time I heard about this coloring book, I thought it was such a clever idea. What a simple but effective way to encourage families to spend time doing something enjoyable together! At 1 ½ years old, I thought my little man might be too young to get much out of this book. But he loves scribbling, and many of the pictures in this book are of things he recognizes so we've had fun looking through it and coloring together. I love how each page has an encouraging theme for me with more detailed coloring, and a simplified page for my little one. The paper is lovely and thick and the designs are varied so that there is something for everyone. I was thrilled to be chosen to receive this book through a promotion and look forward to many more special times coloring with my little one.

This book is great! It inspires the artist in me and encourages my soul with His Word along the way. Also, it is a HUGE encouragement for my children to do this with me at the same time on their sides. It’s all about sitting across from each other and creating masterpieces while we talk about His Truths and the Hope we have because of it. This book encourages us to do it together instead of you do your thing and I’ll do my thing and we’ll meet up later. I love things that encourage me to be intentional with my gifts (my children) and it’s coloring, who doesn’t love to color?!?! I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

There's no question that coloring has exploded in popularity for adults in recent years with the introduction of adult coloring books. It's quite easy to see why. It's peaceful, relaxing, and interestingly fulfilling. So with that in mind, it makes sense to add encouraging thoughts to the pages to set our mind on things above while doing something both fun and soothing. I really like the variety in this book as far as the page layouts go. The book opens from top-to-bottom instead of side-to-side like a conventional book. Some pages have the scriptures built directly into the illustration while others have a small box that shares more of a mini-devotional with no words to color in. The devotionals are relevant to current issues and anxieties in life and serve to refocus our minds where they should be fixed. While the content is more relevant to adults, there's no reason kids couldn't enjoy coloring in the pages as well. This is a book I would easily recommend. It's fun, entertaining, soothing, and peaceful. We live in a busy world that often has our minds running anxiously. This is a great little tool to quiet our minds and calm our anxieties while setting our thoughts on things above. There's plenty of content to enjoy in this book that will keep you occupied for a while. I definitely consider this a little gem to own. *I received a complimentary copy of this book through B&H Publishers. I was not required to give a positive review. Rachel C. Swanson and Jacy Corral have made a beautiful devotional coloring book for mothers and their children. While I'm not a mom yet, I wanted to look at this coloring book to see what it's like. This book would make a great gift for moms of preschool-aged children. Each day's devotional includes a coloring page for mom and the child, and the way it is set up, the parent can face the child while reading the devotional. The child's page is usually a Bible verse to color, while the mom's page is a devotional with a pretty border to color. This is a great idea for helping moms get a devotional time in while also helping teach what they learn to the child. It is an easy tool for mothers to practice their Titus 2 mandate with their children. God loves it when we pass down love for His Word to the next generation. I definitely recommend this coloring devotional book for its beautiful pictures and great devotional messages. I give this book four out of five stars.

I received a free copy of Big and Little Coloring Devotional written by Rachel C. Swanson and illustrated by Jacy Corral from BH Bloggers in exchange for an honest review. I love coloring, so when I saw this coloring book listed on BH Blogger’s available books for review I was pretty darn excited. The book opens vertically so you and your child, niece/nephew, grandchild, etc can sit across from each other and color together. The paper is thick, and the lines are bold. The designs are pretty cool. I’d say the children’s side is geared more towards elementary school aged children. The adult side is more complex, and has the devotional and a Bible verse at the bottom. This does not come with crayons, markers, or colored pencils.

This devotional is a great way for mom and child to share some time together focusing on scripture! My daughter is 3 and is definitely not the right target age for this book. I think it would be perfect for an older elementary child who can sit for an extended period of time (I think a great time to do this would be on a mother/child date for hot chocolate or a meal where you're sitting across from one another). I do wish there was a question prompt to further the conversation with your child. The devotionals are short little thoughts on the verse and will be easily translated towards any child. I received a copy of this book from the publisher. This review is my own, honest opinion.

It was so cool to read about how this coloring/devotional came about. A mom with an idea, an artist with a prayer, and God at work! I am so excited to use this with my daughter who constantly demands mommy attention and hands on activities! This is the coolest. We can color with the book laid flat - at the same time. The Bible verse on one side coincides with the short devotional on the opposite page. One page is a bit more simply done, so the younger ones can color, while the other has more detail to be filled in. There are some truly beautiful verse and illustrations in this book. The pages are relatively thick so the color shouldn't bleed through, although my recommendation is colored pencils. My daughter is ten, and I think that is the perfect age for this book. Maybe a little younger if they are artistic or love to color. This book could truly be something to treasure for years to come. I was impressed to see if even included one of my favorite verses: For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain. Philippians 1:21. Includes over 50 double-sided devotionals. I received this book courtesy of B&H Bloggers and Lifeway. I was not asked or required to give it a positive review. All opinions are my own.

Big and Little Coloring Devotional, written by Rachel C. Swanson and illustrated by Jacy Corral, is my first experience with a coloring book designed for sharing between parent and child. I love that the book marries an enjoyable childhood activity with a calming adult activity. Not only does it set the stage for some quality time, but it inserts Scriptures and spiritual truths that mom and child can discuss while they color. My five year old daughter and I sat down this afternoon to test out the new coloring book. The pages are set so that mom and child can sit opposite each other and the child can work on one page while mom does the other. Well, we decided we wanted to share a page and work together. After about thirty minutes of us both coloring, we nearly completed the page. She said the background should be colored in, but she was tired of coloring. (And truthfully, thirty minutes was plenty for me too.) I was beyond pleased with the experience. We talked, we colored, we made up stories, we spent time together. There were smiles, thoughts, and a bright coloring page to remind us of it all. Of course, I can not leave out my two year old daughter who also likes to color and it occurred to me that this would be a great morning activity since she gets usually gets up at least an hour earlier than her older sister. Entertaining my young child while starting the day with a relaxing activity.... I'm looking forward to trying that out tomorrow morning. I am a fan of coloring books for adults. I think they're fun, calming, and help me express myself in an artistic way -- I can't draw, but if you give me a page with something already on it, I will go to town coloring it. I was excited to get my copy of Big and Little Coloring Devotional by author Rachel Swanson and illustrator Jacy Corral. They wanted to create a book where mamas and kids could sit together and do the same thing at the same time in a way that engaged each of them in age-appropriate ways. I love that the book is a collaboration between two women who love the Lord. I think this book is designed perfectly for its intended. Each devotional is a pair of pages -- one with a short paragraph as well as a more intricate drawing; the other side of the page is child-friendly with less detailed artwork to color in. The devotionals provide really excellent content for discussion and I can see them working well for little kids as well as older ones. (And you know, I can absolutely picture a teenager sitting with her mama coloring and talking about things based on the content of these devotionals, which is really neat!) I love how the devotional is bound at the top of the book. It makes it so easy to just grab the book, some pencils or crayons, and color with your little at the same time. Although it's kid-friendly, I do think that it's probably better for kids six or older. Some of the little coloring pages would be too complex for two-year-old hands (unless you don't mind scribbles, in which case I say go for it!). One thing I must admit: I can totally see myself coloring both the big and little pages. They're just so fun and well-drawn that it is too hard not to! Also, you should know the pages hold up really well and are pretty thick. I colored with crayon, colored pencil, and Staedler Triplus Fineliner with no bleed through. Happy coloring!

Coloring is still one of my favorite things to do. The Big and Little Coloring Devotional has something to offer both children and adults in one nifty package so both the young and the older can enjoy coloring. This dual age coloring book devotional allows adults to read a short uplifting devotional reading and to relax while coloring a more complex coloring picture. On the opposite page, there is a simpler picture for children to color that is age appropriate for younger ones. The Big and Little Coloring Devotional has 112 pages of uplifting pictures and readings to do together. I love the idea of this intergenerational coloring devotional. I have to be honest and say that I don't have little ones to color with me right now, although I am not above borrowing nieces or neighbor children to color with me with a mom's blessing. However, I still found the readings in the Big and Little Coloring Devotional to be encouraging and fun as an adult. They are short and refreshing and help me keep my mind on God and Scripture for the day. I like the coloring pictures for both age groups quite while. I would mention that adults will need a sharp pencil and some of the adult coloring pages have tiny spaces to color. For my sample page, I used colored pencils. The pages are fairly thick but with pictures on both sides of the page, I don't think I personally would like to use markers and risk bleeding through. I would recommend this fun coloring devotional to any family or anyone who enjoys coloring. I think it would be a fun gift idea too, maybe in a basket or gift bag with an assortment of colored pencils and crayons. I received this book from BH Publishing Group. I was not required to write a positive review in exchange for the book.

This coloring book is more than just a coloring book! It has coloring pages on each side of the book so that two people can color at the same time. It also has a devotional you can read together and a bible verse that you can teach your child! My daughter is 4 years old and this has been so much fun for us! We enjoy coloring together and I'd never seen a coloring book quite like this one before! I love that we can do something we enjoy and also learn more about God at the same time! My daughter has asked me to color almost every day since we got the book. I absolutely LOVE it! :-) I think everyone needs one!

When I first got this book I thought the layout was a little strange. Then I had my friend color with me and it was ingenious! I know it is for parents and kids, but my college aged friend came over and we talked while she colored. It was a great way for us to both destress. After awhile she said, "Hey this is God stuff." It was fun to have scripture right there to color together when we have a different belief system. I've tried to use it with my son, but in any coloring books defense he isn't too interested. I think he will enjoy it with me when he is a little older but 2.5 was asking a lot. Overall I think this is a creative idea. I love the layout. It is easy to color with two people at once. The drawings are beautiful and the devotionals are overall good.

This coloring book is so much more than a coloring book! My 4 year old daughter has gotten time with her grandma (wheelchair bound) and Nana coloring and discussing God's love for her. My older kids love it too (even my boys 10, 8, 6). I would recommend this over and over. I did receive a copy of this at no charge for my review, but all opinions are my own.

We all love this coloring book as an easy way to have intentional time together. I already ordered four more to give away as gifts and will recommend it as a gift for families of kids we dedicate in our church. It is more of a devotional book for us, with the added bonus that we get to color together. Isn’t art meditative and calming by itself? Using this coloring book devotional and getting that precious intentional time together is as easy as turning to our mobile devices and video games, but so much more fruitful: in our relationships together, in our own hearts, and in setting out an easy rhythm of meaningful conversations. Did I mention easy?? This book makes those important endeavors so approachable. Because of conversations started from these coloring pages, we are consistently amazed to hear and learn of the work the Holy Spirit is doing in our kids' hearts.

What a great thing to have a devotional and coloring book in one! Being able to do something fun with your little that also inspires you both is so cool! Definitely add this to your gift giving list! I think it's great!

I love this coloring/devotional book. It has helped me be intentional about dwelling on God's Word and truly enjoy it. It has rekindled a desire to connect with God on a deeper level but also relieved stress and worry while coloring. The book in itself is fun to color because the illustrations are so beautiful but it’s also great just to flip through and read the rich devotionals. I can't wait until my little one (6 months) is a little older so she can start coloring in it with me. I highly recommend this for all ages even if you don’t have children. I hope you will benefit from it and enjoy it as much as I do.

Words can not express how much I love this new tool for communicating our faith with my littles! I am a mom of two boys, 3 & 5, and we love our coloring time together. My 5 year old begs to do another page together during quiet time. We can be side by side and color, while chatting about scripture and having it be in such a way that it spoke to each of us in our two different seasons of life. Such a smart idea and one that I truly think will make a difference in the conversation about Jesus and our faith every time we use it.

This book gives me the opportunity to have one-on-one time with my kids and bring up God's Word with them. And it's relaxing just sitting and coloring with them in the midst of the craziness of our normal lives.

Made for Mamas Multitasking in my middle name and this devotional covers a lot of ground that leaves my soul refreshed. Not only does this book give me the one on one time I crave with my children but coloring helps me physically slow down and destress. I get to breathe out for a few brief moments while I breathe in the spiritual refreshment my soul needs.

I love being able to sit with my children and do a shared activity that we ALL can participate in. Having kids from 2-7 sometimes it's hard to find something every one likes to do. We've been able to have a lot of discussion and conversations centered around the verse that we are coloring. It's also been pretty amazing to see how my kids "happen" to pick a page and the verse on it fits exactly what we need in that moment! It's a great reminder of God's encouragement to us through His Word!

This book is so much fun! I love the quality time with my littles and the opportunity to share more about Jesus through the devotional part of the book! The book's layout is new and perfect for coloring together. This would make a great gift for parents, grandparents, babysitters, church groups, and many more.
