How do you catch a killer who leaves no trace?
A victim killed with a single, precise stab to the heart appears at first glance to be a robbery gone wrong. A caring, upstanding social worker lost to a senseless act of violence. But for Detective Kim Stone, something doesn’t add up.
When a local drug addict is found murdered with an identical wound, Kim knows instinctively that she is dealing with the same killer. But with nothing to link the two victims except the cold, calculated nature of their death, this could be her most difficult case yet.
Desperate to catch the twisted individual, Kim’s focus on the case is threatened when she receives a chilling letter from Dr Alex Thorne, the sociopath who Kim put behind bars. And this time, Alex is determined to hit where it hurts most, bringing Kim face-to-face with the woman responsible for the death of Kim’s little brother – her own mother.
As the body count increases, Kim and her team unravel a web of dark secrets, bringing them closer to the killer. But one of their own could be in mortal danger. Only this time, Kim might not be strong enough to save them…
A totally gripping thriller that will have you hooked from the very first page to the final, dramatic twist.
What readers are saying about Angela Marsons
'I absolutely loved it! ... This one is one of the best crime thrillers I've read in a long time, and that includes mainstream authors such as James Patterson! I would seriously put this book in the same league.' Fiona’s Book Reviews
‘I don't think I've been so hooked by a new author since the discovery of Mark Edwards or Mark Billingham… if you finish a crime thriller feeling like you just need to have a lie-down and a cup of tea to get your breath back, then the writer has done their job. Angela Marsons, I still don't have my breath back.’ Reading Room with a View
‘I'm a little bit speechless to be honest at just how incredible this book was… one of the best new crime authors of 2015, maybe even the decade.’ Book Addict Shaun
‘Angela Marsons is fast becoming THE one to watch in this genre and I would defy anyone not to read and enjoy her writing… She truly has a brilliant mind and this book did not disappoint … This story has everything, it is riveting, emotional, sad and most of all it has a depth that not many novels can claim to have… I highly recommend this one,Simply brilliant.’ Postcard Reviews

I've read all five of the Kim Stone series in 4 days. The story lines and plots are intriging. The twists and turns left me a bit breathless at times. All of the books are UNPUTDOWNABLE!!!! I loved the return of minor characters and especially bringing back the deliciously wicked Dr. Thorne. I highly recommend this series to all and have told friends and family about it. I'm really looking forward to following Kim, Bryant, Stacey and Kevin into their next adventure!!! Way to go, Angela.....keep writing. Suzy in Syracuse, NY USA
Blood Lines by Angela Marsons is the fifth book in the D.I. Kim Stone Crime Thriller series. Detective Inspector Kim Stone and her team are called out to a crime scene. A young woman is in a car with one stab wound. There were no hesitation marks. Then a second victim turns up with the exact same wound. The team cannot find a connection between the two victims except for how they were killed. Kim is having trouble focusing on the case because her old nemesis has contacted her. Dr. Alexandra Thorne is in prison, but she continues to find ways to taunt Kim. Kim tries to ignore Alex, but then she involves Kim’s mother. Alex has an agenda. There are only two people keeping Alex in jail and Kim is one of them. Will Kim and her team be able to figure out the killer’s agenda and stop the killer before he (or she) strikes again? Will Alex’s plan come to fruition? Kim will have her work cut out for her to stay one step ahead of these two killers. Blood Lines is an engrossing novel. You will not be able to put it down. Blood Lines is not a stand-alone book. You do need to read the first four book in the Kim Stone series or you will be lost (the books build upon each other). I had to be careful with my summary so I did not give anything away (do not want to spoil it for you). I give Blood Lines 5 out of 5 stars (I loved it). Blood Lines is well-written and has a captivating (and complex) main character. I look forward to each new book in the series so I can find out a little more about Kim Stone. This novel has some great twists and turns. Blood Lines is one of those novels that will have you staying up late until you finish the last page. I cannot wait for the next Detective Kim Stone Crime Thriller.
Wow!! Angela Marsons has done it again! This is an enthralling police crime thriller starring Detective Kim Stone and her arch nemesis, Doctor Alexandra Thorne - the chilling sociopath Kim caught in an earlier novel in this superbly crafted series. There are twist and turns galore, secrets to be revealed, serious manipulation of others and murder most foul in this gripping tale. Throughout the story the power of a true sociopath is explored and revealed in chilling detail. Even though imprisoned, Alex still works to manipulate others to achieve her own goals, regardless of the harm it does to others. The story is a real page turner, a psychological murderous journey, where not even children are safe and sometimes things aren't quite as clear cut as you'd expected! Get ready to meet some seriously mentally ill people - including Kim's mother, in this brilliant addition to this remarkable saga, one I have no hesitation in highly recommending to anyone who enjoys reading this genre. Phew - I deliberately avoided giving any clues about what has as I don't want to give any spoilers away! Many thanks to NetGalley for gifting me an ARC of this novel.
