About the Author

Deanne took a beginner’s quilting class over 20 years ago and has loved the
art of quiltmaking ever since. She began designing her own patterns when she
could not find what she was looking for in a quilt shop. This led her to begin
her quilt pattern design company, Snuggles Quilts, in 2003. Deanne has been
successfully self-publishing quilt patterns since beginning the business and
continues to market them to quilt shops and distributors to be enjoyed by
quilters everywhere. Several of her patterns have been published in major quilt
magazines and calendars. Deanne has previously authored two quilt pattern
books. This is her first book with Kansas City Star Quilts.
Deanne works from her home studio in Osage, Iowa. Her husband, Craig, has
been a great support to her business and even helps when Deanne sells her
designs at the International Quilt Market. Deanne and Craig have two children, Ali
and Mitch, who had to put up with mom yelling “not with those scissors!” a time
or two while growing up. Snuggles the cat is the company namesake since she
seems to take ownership of all the quilts that come out of the studio. She often
“stars” in blog posts on Deanne’s website and is quite a hit. Designing quilts,
writing patterns and books, and running the pattern company has been the best
job ever. For Deanne, it’s great to go to work every day and do something she
loves!
