This book is certainly a very good and easy read that you can get sucked into quickly, however I’m not sure how good this book would be for elementary students because some of the stories are a bit edgy and if you as a parent let your kid read it at a younger age than be my guest but maybe not putting it into the school library. If the kid that is reading this is young enough they may not understand some of the stories because some of the stories have to do with things like child marriage and domestic abuse. Overall the book was very interesting and Bagieu really brought the stories to life with her art along with the way she articulated her words to make the story come to life for the reader. The many stories that are each very different and unique keep the reader engaged in the book. All of the stories are relatively short as well so you are never bored probably the longest story is about ten pages. My favorite story is the one about Margaret Hamilton who was the wicked witch of the west in the wizard of oz and when you find out a actress or actor you have seen a million times on the screen has an interesting story it makes it all the better. My favorite quote from the book was from the story about Leymah Gbowee and it says, “The girl I was at 17 would never have accepted this life. It is not because of war it’s not because of the kids. I am not worthless. It is my favorite quote because it really shows Women empowerment and what this entire book is about.

Such a brilliant composition of powerful, inspirational stories. I can't wait for the next one in this series. This would also make an excellent gift for any special girl in your life.
