Brazil for Life!: Start a New Life in the World's Most Exciting Country
Brazil for Life! has been a labor of love. I wanted to create for others a guide that I wish I had had when I first arrived in Brazil. Knowing the contents of this book when I first arrived in 2003 would have saved me thousands of dollars, hundreds of hours of wasted time, and a great deal of stress and frustration. Brazil is a great place to live, but it’s not an easy place to live, at least not at first.

In this book you will find complete descriptions, tips and strategies for:

• The many cultural and economic benefits of living in Brazil
• All short-term and permanent residency visas
• Buying and selling Brazilian real estate (lots, farmland, houses, apartments)
• Buying a car (new or used)
• Renting a car and what to be careful about
• Getting a driver’s license
• The best ways to learn to speak Brazilian Portuguese
• The Cost of Living in Brazil
• How to open a bank account
• The many types of short-term and long-term housing and how to find them
• Known and "under the radar" destinations, large and small
• How to stay safe
• Links to useful resources throughout the book and in the appendix

This book is primarily intended for those who might want to start a new life in Brazil or make Brazil a second home. However, it is also very useful for anyone coming here on vacation. There are individual tips in here that can save someone hundreds of dollars on a short vacation. Enjoy!

About the Author

Joe Naab left the U.S. in 2001, traveling freely for three consecutive years scouting out candidate countries and cities in search of a new place to call home. He's now lived in south Brazil for eight years where, among other things, he helps others uproot from their country of origin to start a new life, or to establish a second home, in another country.

In addition to his guide book, he offers phone consultations to address the specific needs of each individual. He has coached several people through the process of leaving their country of origin for the destination of their dreams.
