Overview

Just about anything is fodder for Diane Hyde's eclectic, multilayered jewelry: found objects, quirky oddities, old images, and vintage materials. Beaders will love exploring her whimsical style and learning how they too can create beautiful pieces from seemingly ordinary, everyday things. Diane reveals her special, accessible techniques for working with these items, and presents 22 fanciful, fun projects, including a pendant with a wine cork affixed to a Pierrot doll head and embellished with bicone crystal beads; clever Light It Up Earrings, with mini lightbulbs haloed with floral-shaped beads; and figurines, necklaces, bracelets, and more!

About the Author

In addition to making jewelry, wearable art, dolls, and purses since the late 1970s, Diane Hyde has been beading for almost 20 years and teaching for a decade. She is celebrated for her signature aesthetic, based on the steampunk look with visual softness added by beads and beadweaving techniques. (Her fans call it beadpunk.) Diane's work has appeared in numerous magazine articles and books, and she has won awards in the world's preeminent beading competition, Bead&Button Magazine's Bead Dreams, every year since 2001. Diane's company, Designer's Findings, specializes in hard-to-find jewelry components. She lives in Waukesha, WI.
