Brody's Ghost Volume 1 by Mark Crilley, Various

Brody hoped it was just a hallucination. But no, the teenaged ghostly girl who'd come face to face with him in the middle of a busy city street was all too real. And now she was back, telling him she needed his help in hunting down a dangerous killer, and that he must undergo training from the spirit of a centuries-old samurai to unlock his hidden supernatural powers. Thirteen-time Eisner nominee Mark Crilley joins Dark Horse to launch his most original and action-packed saga to date in Brody's Ghost, the first in a six-volume limited series.

* Paramount Pictures and Brad Pitt's Plan B have acquired Miki Falls, a four-volume manga series created by Mark Crilley.

* Crilley is best known for his Akiko young-adult novels and comic books.

From the creator of the Eisner-nominated Akiko!

Picked up Brody's Ghost yesterday and devoured it that evening. Mark Crilley's writing is engaging and exciting. Crilley's art is also amazing. While you can see Crilley's Manga influences, his own style comes out and I truly love it. I think Mark Crilley is a hidden treasure among the throng on the manga bookshelf. This series is a must read for me.

I love Mark Crilley's work and philosophy. He definitely has gone with the Karmic approach to comics and Manga production. He demystifies the methodology of comics, as he gives specific tutorials on comics creation via his YouTube channel. Subscribe to his social media accounts and support this guy. You'll be glad you did. He is extremely talented and goes out of his way to humbly connect with fans. Brody's Ghost has twists and turns that would rival a wild roller coaster. The character development and plot, coupled with intricately honed artwork, skillfully attract the reader. You can't go wrong with this comic. Dark Horse will more than likely score a big win by adding these books to their repertoire. Brody's Ghost is a must-read.

I really like Mark Crilleys style of drawing, and now its on the nook color version. Which is way better than buying it at the store. Great storyline too.

It was a fun read. Watched Mark on YouTube which led me to purchase both this and Vol. 2 with his Mastering Manga book. Even though I like it, I feel like Manga would be something a little too expensive for me to get into, especially since I burned through both of these pretty quick. Nevertheless, I will likely finish this series out cause I "need" to see how it ends =)

Love it. An amazing, addicting read. Would rate it a thousand stars. Only reason it isnt a million is because its too short.

When reluctant hero Brody encounters a sassy ghost named Talia, he never imagined that he'd start investigating a serial murderer. Can he prove that he really has powers, or is he fated to stay a panhandler for the rest of his life? I've been a big fan of Mr. Crilley's videos on Youtube, but I wasn't sure if I'd get into a supernatural graphic novel. However, once I started reading it, I couldn't put it down. The characters have great personalities and their dialogue sounds very natural. Brody and Talia's first encounter has to be one of my favorite moments. The art is well-done as well; it has a manga influence, but does not have the little chibis or largely-exaggerated eyes and reactions that most manga uses. (No cherry blossoms blowing in the wind here!) My only complaint is that I wish it were longer. I want more, haha.
