Brownies, bribes and a body on the beach.

Suburban mom Jill Andrews has two young kids and a husband who travels more than he's home. Her biggest worry is the decision to re-enter the workforce, until she trips over the body of her neighbor, Samuel Westen, who'd been feuding with Jill's sister-in-law Desi.

When the stress of being the police's top suspect lands Desi in the hospital with pregnancy complications, Jill must navigate her own mom-life crisis, sift through a tangled web of secrets and lies, and discover the identity of the real killer before it's too late.

Nice cozy read. Overextended mom, hubby climbing the corporate ladder and absent from family then throw in a double murder and a preschool from hell and you've got pandemonium! Enjoy.

This book was on offer from B & N's "free" list. I'm glad I didn't pay for it. I can't really call it a bad book, but I found it to be a very boring book. I kept reading, because I kept thinking it would start moving a bit faster, but it just idled in neutral. The concept was okay, but the story lacked oomph. The characters were bland. Extraneous detail slowed the pacing of the story. The author skimmed the surface of the "Cozy Mystery Trap". Unfortunately, some people think the term "Cozy Mystery" is synonymous with saccharine and/or superficial. While this writer didn't completely sink into that abyss, she did dip her toes in too often to make this book palatable.
