Iris is a rather careless individual, but she has this strong desire to help people that makes you overlook her flaws. When I say flaws I mean that she can't cook and she has a tendency to start fires. She's not a pyromaniac, just careless. It was through one of her fires that she met Riley. Iris has such a big heart that she ran into her burning apartment building to find her missing cat. The only way they could keep her from killing herself to find Whiskers was for Riley to find the cat for her. Luckily, Whiskers had made her way outside of the building and away from the fire. It was through this encounter that Riley started to fall in love with Iris. They had a connection he found hard to deny, but his past drove him to walk away. Actually this is a theme in the book. Riley tries to walk away a couple of times, but Iris is too headstrong. It's a short story about how two people are nudged together by angels in heaven. They are soul mates, but the angels can't completely interfere because of our free will. I really liked how each chapter shows us what is happening between Riley and Iris and also shows how the angels react to their choices. It was nice to read about a guy who had issues with commitment since typically in romance books it is the woman that doesn't want to solidify a relationship. Fast paced and entertaining is the best way to describe it.
