Overview

Cake Icing, Butt Budder and Tea Lids by Renee Andrews

Cake Icing, Butt Budder and Tea Lids has been described as Sweet Home Alabama, the Ya-Ya Sisterhood, Practical Magic and Steel Magnolias all rolled into one. "In the South, if a woman isn't married by age twenty-five, it's time for an intervention." This is the basis behind Delilah and Edna Thibodeaux's dogged determination to make sure their beloved Jezze doesn't end up an old spinster, like her mother and aunt.

But what happens when the eccentric antics of the young girl's crazy Cajun aunt and mother put her search for Mr. Right on a 25-year deadline to potential disaster? And why should she have to prove that they are the experts in marriage intervention, anyway? Because she loves them? Yeah, probably. Because they really don't mean any harm? That too. But when they decide her Mr. Right is T-Roy Bertrand, the butt budder salesman, does she really have to agree? And if she's made up her mind, why does her heart refuse to listen?

Exceptional book. Every page brought laughter, out loud and rolling laughter a times! While serious at times, it's a light hearted account from the daughter of a main character. It starts when she's about five and continues until she's an adult. Named Jezebel (and called Jezze) she is being raised by her unmarried mother and aunt. While their antics occasionally give her pause for thought (or downright embarrass her) she never ever doubts their love for her. It is a wonderful story of growth... and not just that of Jezze. Sure to lift your spirits whether or not they need lifting. A talented and gifted author. Looking forward to many more of her books!

Book was not what I expected. Hard getting into, hard staying with and (frankly) not funny. Couldn't finish it.

I only got half way through this one. Too many pendulous mammary glands in this to suit me....

This book kept my interest from the begining. It had both funny and serious sides. Told through the eyes of a girl who starts out young and how she sees things differently as she grows. I really enjoyed the book and hated to see it end.
