Cast in Oblivion, by Michelle Sagara, is the latest volume in the Chronicles of Elantra series. I have really enjoyed this series and plan to continue buying Kaylin’s adventures. Anyone that plans to buy this book definitely need to have read the previous two books in order to understand the overall story line. My one concern is this current book is that it is 537 pages long and the first 230 or so pages are talking about Barrini Politics and the future of the “cohort”. These discussions had been talked about extensively in Cast in Deception, the previous book, and I found the repetition to be boring. An exception is the meeting with two members of the Dragon Court, The Consort and two lords of the Barrini High Halls, the Dragon Bellusdeo and all of the recurring main characters. This really unusual meeting of important characters was thrilling to follow the discussion and interaction with the “cohort”. Never fear, the action ramps up and Nightshade joins the combat. I enjoyed Cast in Oblivion, if you have been following Lord Kaylin's adventures this is a must read.
