Good book but it gets a one star because it ends with a cliff hanger trying to force you to buy the next book to find out what happens. I hate authors who do this. They write short books then try to make you buy dozens of others when they could easily put the entire story into one good size book.

There weren't many grammatical errors and the story was well put together. However, for a detective that's supposed be the best in the world, he does very poor detective work. He literally tortures a man and then doesnt believe the information. He assumes she is dead and he killed her. Polygraph? Truth serum? Just gives up on a child serial killer case? Emotions do not fit characters. For a husband who just lost a wife he adored, he quit looking too soon and started dating too quickly. I mean he was thinking about another chick's toned body at the memorial service. Really? Also, both daughters, one a teenager insist he start dating 6 months after their mom disappears. That would NEVER happen. Just not believable at all. The story has good ideas, but there either was no research done or not the proper research.

I, also, hate cliffhangers and he misses too much to rate as a top detective.

I don't even need to read this if it ends in a cliff hanger. What a rip off. If you want to charge money for your book DO IT!! Don't get someone to read it and have to pay to get the second half. Authors who do that shouldn't be on Book Bub as far as I am concerned.

This is one of the worst murder mysteries I have ever read. In the early pages the detective, David Porter, is established as one of the best of Houston's police department. Yet when his wife disappears and the woman who is the perpetrator inserts herself into his life, he proceeds to ignore all the clues that stare him in the face. A good detective never ignores a clue or any inconsistency he sees. But this one does. And how does any man, only after six months being widowed and with two young girls, let any woman assert herself on him to the point of moving in after just a few weeks. Even when she clearly does not get along with his teenage daughter. And how would a father believe a wild tale this woman spins about his daughter and her boyfriend without hearing his daughter's side. In the end, the great detective doesn't even solve the mystery. His daughter's boyfriend and his partner do, with his daughter becoming the hero. This book stretches belief. And the author has the nerve, after resolving the major mystery to let the story drag into another book. Well I'm not buying that or the second book.

Very good story with sort of a Fatal Attraction feel to it. However, as one of the best detectives in the world, this guy is an idiot. He missed so many things that it was annoying, and of course, ending with a cliffhanger lets the reader down.

Ends with a cliffhanger, won't buy next book. Bad detective book. Hate authors that do this. Deleted from my library. Next book will most likely do the same.

Terry Keys weaves a story that captures your attention and sucks you down the rabbit hole of crazy psychopaths whether you wanted to go there or not. Nail biting, nerve wracking, and tear jerking! Set aside a day for just this book because you're not going to want to put it down!

Wow, what a great story. I initially started on book 4 in this series, and it enjoyed it so much, that I’ve made my way back to book 1, and I’m glad I did. Terry Keys has that wonderful ability to pull the reader into the story, with a well thought and intense plot. Detective David Porter is a great character, and I can’t believe how evil one of the other characters is in this story, however that’s what really made this such a great read. The latest Serial Killer to terrorise the Houston streets is targeting and killing young girls. Unfortunately for the police the girls are being surgically carved up and left for them to find. The killer is intent on involving Detective David Porter by leaving him taunting notes at each murder scene, and blaming him for the girl’s deaths. Meanwhile his wife Miranda is investigating a high profile figure that is definitely doing something highly illegal. She’s decided to keep everything to herself until she’s ready to release her scoop to the world on TV. So it’s no surprise when she suddenly disappears after a car accident. David is beside himself, and it doesn’t matter how good a detective he is, Miranda can’t be located. Hands down a great story, and well worth the 5/5 Star rating.

This story has unexpected twists which made up for the short chapters that went nowhere. Will definitely read the entire series. My new favorite author.

Mr Keyes weaves an amazingly, frustrating story. Enough twists in this plot to make a pretzel seem like a straight line!!
