About the Author

Martin Jenkins first saw chameleons in Madagascar and, he says, "fell in love with them at first sight. I picked one up, ever so gently, and it promptly bit me on the thumb. I still think they are wonderful, but tend to leave them alone whenever I bump into them."

Sue Shields had to develop a new way of painting for Chameleons Are Cool, "to try to describe not only the chameleons‘ astonishing colors, but also the hint of the colors they can change into."

This book is full of interesting facts about chameleons. The facts are found in smaller print, almost like a caption. There is a boy telling a story about chameleons that is full of information, too. The pictures are very colorful and interesting.

K picked this book up from his school library. This is a fun read that is perfect for those that like to read about animals, especially just chameleons.  We get colorful pictures of different chameleons and what pretty much do.  How big they are, how they eat, why they change color and so much more. We read a lot of different things about the chameleons and what makes them cool. There a lot of cool facts that we learn and we both learned something new.

There are a lot of large bright colored pictures which held the attention of my Pre-K class. Facts about chameleons are presented in a fun way.
