Overview

This is a story inspired by the real cows and chooks on the farm and their individual ways. Chook and Moo are not supposed to be friends. Their mums call them so they can learn the ways of their own kind. But Chook and Moo prefer to be with each other and get up to all sorts of mischief. Then one day, the farmer has an idea, and the grown-ups learn to change their behaviour to be more inclusive and support the younger generation to have a broader circle of friends. Questions for children about the book include; What do you think the farmer whispered?

Jane MacCulloch lives on a small farm in the Yass Valley of New South Wales, Australia, where she raises miniature highland cattle and free-range chooks. Jane worked as a children’s librarian and teacher for ten years before studying law. She now works in the area of early childhood education, in Canberra ACT.
