About the Author

An art historian and critic, David Rapp has been writing about culture and art for the past two decades. He holds a Master’s degree in Art History from Tel Aviv University, where his thesis dealt with the depiction of dreams in Medieval Art, and a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and Art History from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. As a journalist, he writes about cultural and religious themes, including Christianity in the Holy Land, and has published a series of columns on Medieval Illuminated Manuscripts.

Churches and Monasteries in the Holy Land, first published in Hebrew, is the result of a lengthy collaboration between author David Rapp and photographer Hanan Isachar. They are currently documenting liturgical Christian celebrations in the Holy Land.
After completing his studies in Mechanical Engineering at the Tel Aviv University, Hanan Isachar developed his photographic skills during two decades in Europe, Latin America, the United States and Asia. In 1993, he returned to Israel, where he established Apogee Press Publishing and became acclaimed internationally for his work. His photographs appear in books and magazines worldwide.
