About the Author

Matt Beames is a writer based in the Southampton area. He has been writing for well over ten years, and his work has been performed in various productions in the South of England and in the Midlands, ranging from short plays or extracts to full length productions. The first professional production of his work was the one act play Into the Calm Sea, which was produced at The Point, Eastleigh in 2013.

Matt is the Associate Writer of 404 Productions, and is also a founding member of Beautiful Shadows, a new theatre company with a focus on creating work with thought-provoking, occasionally darker overtones.

Matt was commissioned to write The Berry Theatre’s production of The Legends of Sir Bevis as part of the Road to Agincourt project and Alice’s Adventures, The Point Youth Theatre’s summer 2016 outdoor production. Whilst his main focus is writing for the theatre, Matt also writes poetry and fiction. His current non-theatre projects include creating a comic book adaptation of the story of Bevis of Hampton, Southampton’s legendary figure.
