About the Author

The thrillers of Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child "stand head and shoulders above their rivals" (Publishers Weekly). Preston and Child's Relic and The Cabinet of Curiosities were chosen by readers in a National Public Radio poll as being among the one hundred greatest thrillers ever written, and Relic was made into a number-one box office hit movie. They are coauthors of the famed Pendergast series and their recent novels include Fever Dream, Cold Vengeance, Two Graves, and Gideon's Corpse. In addition to his novels, Preston writes about archaeology for the New Yorker and Smithsonian magazines. Lincoln Child is a former book editor who has published five novels of his own, including the huge bestseller Deep Storm.
Readers can sign up for The Pendergast File, a monthly "strangely entertaining note" from the authors, at their website, www.PrestonChild.com. The authors welcome visitors to their alarmingly active Facebook page, where they post regularly.

I feel like this was not nearly as well developed as previous books. Lots of set up for predictable outcome. Was so disappointed, as they have been my favorite authors for years and I order way in advance and anticipate reading.

Not up to the standards of the Pendergast series in terms of character development, mystery, or plot cohesion. Still extremely readable because I've come to care about the characters.

Great story, great ending. Looking forward to the next book.

Although the plot was predictable, I still thoroughly enjoyed this book. I love this series and can hardly wait fornthe next. I must say that Constance absence was definitely missed. Need to bring her back for the next one. Thank you again gentleman for a great read.

One of the better plots in this series despite the predictability of the outcome. Extremely well-written. My biggest problem is the absence of Constance Greene. Stephanie Clanahan

Sluggish. Pendergast is great and all but, let's get out of New York and go somewhere exotic or mysterious. Or perhaps, bring back a character from the early days.

Thought this was suppose to be the third book in the series? Crimson shore, the obsidian chamber to this story. I was lost in this one, expecting much more. Not even close in quality than other trilogies.

An enjoyable read. Not as mysterious as their usual fare.

Lincoln has spun another thriller that does not disappoint. He takes us into the twisting and turning crazed mind of a very disturbing villain. This novel leaves us trembling, sweating and gasping for breath as we try to find a way to survive this nightmare.

I am a fan of Preston & Child and their Agent Pendergast series. Because I am a fan and have read all previous sixteen novels in the series, I’m always a tiny bit leery when I start a new one: I would hate to be disappointed! Thankfully, again that is not the case with book number seventeen in the Pendergast series. Yay! With City of Endless Night Douglas Preston & Lincoln Child showed me once again why I am a fan. Their books are always packed with tension, building and building to a magnificent crescendo, where you are so caught up, you are completely lost to the action. And their characterization, of even minor characters, is phenomenal. You can’t beat a Preston & Child for the atmosphere and action that keep you turning pages into the very wee hours and gripping your book so tightly your hands cramp up! Be sure to block out a nice section of time where you won’t be disturbed to read City of Endless Night, because you won’t want to put it down. Many thanks to Grand Central Publishing and NetGalley for the advanced copy of this novel for review purposes. I was not required to give a positive review. All opinions are my very own!
