Clinton Cash: The Untold Story of How and Why Foreign Governments and Businesses Helped Make Bill and Hillary Rich by Peter Schweizer

In 2000, Bill and Hillary Clinton owed millions of dollars in legal debt. Since then, they’ve earned over $130 million. Where did the money come from? Most people assume that the Clintons amassed their wealth through lucrative book deals and high-six figure fees for speaking gigs. Now, Peter Schweizer shows who is really behind those enormous payments.

In his New York Times bestselling books Extortion and Throw Them All Out, Schweizer detailed patterns of official corruption in Washington that led to congressional resignations and new ethics laws. In Clinton Cash, he follows the Clinton money trail, revealing the connection between their personal fortune, their “close personal friends,” the Clinton Foundation, foreign nations, and some of the highest ranks of government.

Schweizer reveals the Clinton’s troubling dealings in Kazakhstan, Colombia, Haiti, and other places at the 'wild west" fringe of the global economy, where business is often conducted on the basis of bribes and personal connections. In this blockbuster exposé, Schweizer does not allege illegal or unethical behavior, he merely presents the troubling facts he’s uncovered. Meticulously researched and scrupulously sourced, filled with headline-making revelations, Clinton Cash raises serious questions of judgment, of possible indebtedness to an array of foreign interests, and ultimately, of fitness for high public office.

"Clinton Cash" is meticulously researched, intellectually honest and powerful. Buy it, give it as a gift, share it with those too young to remember the constant whiff of scandal and self-dealing that attached to everything the Clintons did in the 1990s and have perfected today. This book is a quick read, but a steady, devastating dissection of Bill and Hillary Clinton's techniques for using their private foundation and their public positions as a former President and a sitting Secretary of State, respectively, for their own financial benefit and aggrandizement. I was fortunate to receive an advance copy in manuscript form so, unlike most of the early reviews you will see here, have actually READ the book. The book sweeps from Russia and Kazakhstan to South America, Africa and the Caribbean in tracing the trail of money, donated in huge sums to the Clinton Foundation, and/or thrown at Bill Clinton for six-figure private speaking fees, by fat cats with (surprise!) business before the State Department. The sale of Uranium One to a Russian government-tied firm is only the first story Schweizer tells. The money flows from the Middle East, Sweden, Canada, India and the Far East. The speeches become more and more lucrative, and the donations to the Clinton's family foundation larger still. Schweizer was careful to share many of his most explosive facts with reporters at the New York Times, Washington Post, ABC News and Fox so they could "check his work" before the book's publication. This has paid him and all Americans dividends in that these reporters have not only confirmed his findings but uncovered even more through their own investigation. When you're looking into the Clintons, where there's smoke... Oh Boy, is there a lot of smoke! The book lays out a compelling case for further investigating these "coincidences." The author has repeatedly said so during his many TV interviews before the book's launch. He is careful not to assume too much, and as you hear the reactions in the political world to Peter Schweizer's charges, you understand that these are very careful, crafty people who know how to hide what must stay hidden. As your mind turns over how these various deals must have gone down, you find it easier to understand WHY Hillary Clinton would insist on maintaining her own private email server. "Personal email," indeed. You will find it more and more frustrating to see that the government bureaucracy at the State Department exercised no oversight of her foundation's activities, even though they were specifically supposed to, under orders from the Obama Administration. You will shake your head at the cronyism, nepotism and old-boy network shenanigans that jump off the pages of Peter Schweizer's book. Peter Schweizer and his research organization have done America a great service in exposing this, as they did in exposing congressional insider stock trading previously. This is what investigative journalism should be. Fearless. Honest. Dogged.

Many troubling facts about the presumptive DNC candidate.

Its very difficult to critique this book without slamming the Clintons at the same time, but I will try   Mr Schweitzer took all the pieces of the Clinton Foundations  and put it all together so the reader could decided for themselves and answer the question: "Are the Clintons breaking the law?" I think he was as thorough as he could be.  The book itself is very short and does NOT encompass the entire Clinton scandals, to do that you would need a book the size of a dictionary.  He did make his point though, choosing the timeline of Bill's presidency to the timeline of Hillary's Sec of State position.    I recommend this book to EVERY AMERICAN 18 AND OVER! If you vote, read this before the 2016 election.

I read this and turned right around and read it again---absolutely facinating. Definitely made me think about the media and how some politicians can do anything and get away with it. And others have to walk the politically correct road and still wind up getting smeared!

A brilliant connecting of the dots. Since H-> destroyed the "smoking guns", the case made in this book is even stronger.

Well written and great read to expand your knowledge on how the Clintons (or any kind of politician for that matter) can manipulate and control how to get money and how to influence global politics for their own gain. Fascinating and well written. The author easily lays out from beginning to end the people involved and how they were able to get what they wanted by bribery and subterfuge. Super great read.

Finally someone found the pieces that together make the truth come to light. Some people choose to ignore the truth because the don't want to know the truth. Thank you Mr. Schweizer for doing your research. When we take into account the fact of the Clinton's taking things from the White House and the Governor's mansion that did not belong to them - we can see a pattern. Does someone need to list things like White Water, Bengazi, Lewinski, etc.? The Clinton's really act like they are above the law and unless something is done, they will remain that way.

This is a well researched fully documented book with many shocking revelations. One of the surprising one is that NPR and PBS donated money to the Clinton Foundation. Since NPR and PBS are non profits dependent on donations and government monies, why are they donating money to the Clinton Foundation?

You've have to be completely self-deceiving not to see merit in this book. The Clintons are crooks, plain and simple. It is incredible that they are not being investigated by the FBI or Department of justice. I voted for the bum twice. What is happening to our once great country? Leaders on both sides are selling us down the river, but the Clinton's are by far the most corrupt so far.

This book lays the Clinton corruption at the feet of the American people. It states fact after fact that cannot be disputed. As a woman I would love to see a woman occupy the Oval Office, but not this woman.

No matter what your political leanings, this book should be read by everyone. The American public should question the ethics of everyone in politics and be aware of whatever appears questionable.

Crooked Hilary has already done so much damage to our beloved country. Read this before you vote in Nov. This is scary stuff!

This review is based on a pre-publication copy of the book. By Bill Marsano. If after all of the endless disclosures and rumors about America’s most corrupt and greediest political couple you can still stomach the Clintons, please read this book. With any luck it will turn your stomach. After all, these are the people who tried to steal the furniture when they left the White House. (details: http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/Story?id=121856&page=1). And this is no mindless rant: every claim and charge is meticulously documented: there are 57 pages of notes, complete with citations and web links; further, Peter Schweizer is president and co-founder of the Government Accountability Institute; he and his books have been written about frequently in The New York Times and other publications. He goes to great lengths to explore the extent of the Clintons’ grabs for cash, whether outlandish speaking fees (they skyrocketed when she became Secretary of State) or elaborately clever donations to the Clintons’ foundation from foreign governments, many of them utterly inappropriate (how can they accept money from the Saudis, whose policies are polar opposites of the Clintons’ supposed principles, or take money from entities that have business pending with the U.S. government?). It’s hard for me to choose my favorite scam here: is it the donation from the head of a Canadian charity who later got the OK to buy huge stocks of American uranium, which he then sold to the Russians, or is it the Haitian relief effort, in which billions have been spent but produced essentially no good except to the Clintons and their equally greedy pals? You should read this book in the bathroom: after just a couple as chapters you’ll want to take a shower.--Bill Marsano is a professional writer and editor of 50 years’ experience.

Truly horrifying account of the deceit and corruption of the Clintons. God knows why they both haven't been either put in prison or deported.

An enlightening read, I think. 'Cash' is, first, well composed and easy to read, with a simple, straightforward narrative that's appropriate to the subject matter. Likewise, the author demonstrates a refreshing sobriety in his treatment of the matter, being consistently fair and conservative, and avoiding the sensationalism and hasty conclusions that are so common in today's media. Personally, I appreciate such objectivity when reading a book of this type, and it made 'Cash' that much more accessible to me. Finally, the book ultimately delivers on its premises as an inquiry into the Clintons' philanthropic and humanitarian endeavors, offering a grounded and well-argued presentation of the facts, with any assertions backed by referenced documentation. Thus, in a literary sense, 'Cash' is, in my view, a complete, functional work. Where the book truly excels, however, is in its secondary, incidental substance. Namely, it explores the dark underbelly of philanthropy at large. By way of examining the Clintons' questionable dealings, we are shown the variety of malfeasance and hidden agenda for which charitable institutions often serve as vehicles, from political power-broking and covert profiteering, to reputation-laundering, legitimacy-by-association, and other concealed self-interest. Furthermore, the reader is faced with the human study posed by the very existence of such practices, in the many ethical and metaphysical issues that are consequently raised. All in all, 'Cash' is a deep dive into matters that extend far beyond the conduct of Mr. and Mrs. Clinton, and I learned much from the read, on multiple levels. My sincere thanks goes out to this book's author, subjects, and publisher. I am grateful for, and have benefited from, your work. * * * Some notable quotes from 'Clinton Cash': "The reality is that most of what happens in American politics is transactional. People look for ways to influence those in power by throwing money in their direciton. Politicians are all too happy to vacuum up contributions from supporters and people who want access or something in return. After politicians leave office, they often trade on their relationships and previous positions to enrich themselves and their families." -- p.2 "Indeed, although [the criminal] Chatwal was a longtime member of the Clinton Foundation board of trustees, since his admission of guilt the foundation has erased any mention of him from the Clinton Foundation website." -- p.78 "Whenever [the dictator] Kagame speaks before the Clinton Foundation or meets with Bill, he is quick to publicize it. He clearly recognizes that partnering with an ex-president grants him added legitimacy." -- p.92
