About the Author

Danita Cahill is an award-winning author and photographer. She's written and published over 2,100 newspaper articles and columns for 11 different Northwest newspapers, and dozens of magazine stories and photo layouts for numerous magazines. She has five stories and a photo in two of Health Communications, Inc.'s books (HCI Books - the same folks who publish the Chicken Soup for the Soul series) and she's published many other books - including two humorous non-fictions, a romantic paranormal suspense, and several titles in the Bellham Romance Series, with many more to come.

Danita lives in the Pacific NW on a small Oregon farm with her husband, their two sons, and their animals - including a mare named Koko, and a herd of 10 alpacas. Besides running children to and fro and caring for her gardens, critters and family, Danita stays busy working on magazine assignments, capturing candid moments with her cameras, eating dark chocolate and dreaming up love stories for her next books.

As for Cowboys...

Why does Danita choose to write about cowboys and small western towns? There's a familiar saying: "Write what you know." Danita has lived in small rural towns and kept horses most all her life. For over six years, she was a volunteer deputy with the Linn County Sheriff's Mounted Posse. Their primary mission was wilderness search and rescue on horseback. Danita's grown daughter is a barrel racer and horse trainer, and Danita's son-in-law rides bareback broncs in a northwest rodeo circuit. Danita is immersed in the small town/western/cowboy way of life. And she wouldn't have it any other way.
