Damaged Goods addresses the effects of venereal disease during the early 20th century. The story centers on a young couple and addresses people's attitudes toward sexually transmitted disease in through different social classes. Upton Sinclair was a Pulitzer Prize-winning who wrote over 90 books, best known for his muckraking novel, The Jungle.
