Brad Sanders’s narration does a decent job capturing the steady, calm voice of Cross, and he shines with his shifts to other characters. He delivers smooth transitions that range from the vice president’s exasperated tone to the younger-sounding voices of Cross’s children and the emotions of his grieving best friend. One survivor in particular, a shooting victim, comes across as wonderfully acerbic. Sanders never trips up as Cross hunts for the killer.”
