Wow! This book drew me in right away and I’m adding more books by Kimberly Belle to my reading list! Absolutely a 5 star book!!! First, I really like the way this book was written. Each chapter is about a different person, their thoughts, them speaking, where they are … its one of my favorite formats for a book. There was definite mystery/suspense in this book, too! Well written, well planned…I thought I had it figured out, until I realized I didn’t! So well done! This is one you all should go get and read!!~Janell at Green Gables Book Reviews The book starts off with Beth driving. She never wanted to run away. But she’s heading to a new life, even though she never wanted this. Today, this day, is her first day of freedom. She must be smart, she has be be frugal and keep her eyes open. But she has a plan. She will be safe. Her plan will work and she will finally be free. Jeffrey comes home traveling for work. Where is Sabine? Shouldn’t she be home by now? And, this house? It’s a mess-why is Sabine so messy? Doesn’t she know how he likes order? Ingrid is Sabine’s twin. She’s worried, she can’t get in touch with Sabine. And, she keep reminding Jeffrey that they tell each other everything. Jeffrey wonders-do they really? Does Ingrid know about…he hopes not. Because if she does, his life won’t be the same. Expect the unexpected! Expect help from unlikely sources and expect to do no housework because this book is a “read it in one sitting if you can”, kind of book! Enjoy!

READ THIS BOOK! How's that for a review? Dear Wife by Kimberly Belle is a five-star read for me, and I am incredibly thankful to NetGalley and Park Row books for allowing me to read and review this ARC of what has become my favorite mystery of the year. Anyone who knows me is already aware that I'm a Kimberly Belle fan. I could not wait to get my hands on Dear Wife. I'm always that much more exuberant when a book I've been excited to read surpasses my expectations and makes me fall in love with it, regardless of whether or not I've loved a book by the author before. That said, I think Dear Wife is my favorite #BelleBook yet. (Is that a thing? Because it should be.) As someone who has spent much of the last four years working with women — and men — who are suffering through or recovering from toxic relationships (at my "day job"), I am always pleased to see an author create awareness surrounding these narcissistic environments. Emotional and physical abuse is rampantly prevalent in the United States (and around the world!). Women (and again, men) are breaking their silences and speaking out against these abusers, which is why I believe stories such as Dear Wife are as important as ever to be written and read. Beth Murphy has been planning her escape from her abusive spouse for nearly a year, and today is the day she's been dreaming of. She leaves her entire life in Pine Bluff, Arkansas in the rearview mirror. Her name. Her family. Her identity. Anything that keeps her tethered to the man she's married to. Back in Pine Bluff, real estate broker Sabine Hardison goes missing. Her husband, Jeffrey, and her sister, Ingrid, are desperate to find her...but are they looking for her for the same reason? Detective Marcus Durand isn't so sure. The more he looks into the circumstances surrounding Sabine's disappearance, the more he uncovers the true nature of her marriage. Beth knows it's only a matter of time until her husband finds her. Will she be ready for him when he does? Will he have uncovered her carefully laid clues? Leaving is just the beginning. I couldn't put this book down. It's suspenseful, dramatic, and keeps you wondering what is really going on. Who is to be believed? Who is lying? I am a huge fan of the way Beth narrates her story, as if she's speaking directly to her husband the whole time — a one-sided conversation that depicts a vivid image of the life she's left behind. Warnings include some explicit language, but there are no graphically violent scenes. "Why doesn't she just leave? gets asked in living rooms and courtrooms across the country, when a better question would be, Why doesn't he let her go?" ~Dear Wife by Kimberly Belle

My Rating: 4.5 Stars In this exciting, heart-stopping book by Kimberly Belle, Beth Murphy has fully executed a well thought-out plan. She has escaped an abusive husband. Having taken on a new name, and with perfectly orchestrated actions, Beth just might be able to start her life over again. Meanwhile, Jeffrey alerts the police regarding the disappearance of his wife Sabine. The police have very little to go on, because things happened suddenly. What they do find is her abandoned car, and more than a little proof that there may have been foul play. Sabine's disappearance has been issued to Detective Marcus Durand. At this point in the story, the chapters alternate in three points of view, that of Beth, Jeffrey and Marcus. Things become a thrilling game of cat-and-mouse as Beth strives to stay one step ahead of her violent husband. Also, on the one hand, Jeffrey denies any culpability with regard to Sabine's disappearance. At the same time, Marcus becomes deeply affected by the case. Almost to the point of giving everything up in the interests of locating the missing woman. As Marcus digs deeper, he discovers that Sabine had a lover, Trevor, so he clearly sees that things are not as Jeffrey would like him to believe. Readers no doubt will be as desperate as I was to see what the connection is to Beth and Sabine. Furthermore, there is a reason for Marcus's intensity and this definitely ratchets up the intensity of this story. There are a bevy of characters in this story. We meet people that are in Beth's path and how she nearly escapes. This helps this story to evolve into an engaging read that was impossible to put down. Things progressed at a fever pitch, leading to a thrilling conclusion. While this is the first time that I read anything by Kimberly Belle, it will most certainly not be my last. Many thanks to Park Row and to NetGalley, as well as Edelweiss, for this ARC to review in exchange for my honest opinion.

Oh my goodness, this story was amazing. A solid 5 stars for this thriller featuring a female cast of strong, smart and cunning women. Or was it? I am not going to reiterate the synopsis of this book as I do not want to spoil it for anyone. All I will say is there are two women that go missing, or is it two? Who is looking for them and why? Those were the type of questions that were going through my mind while reading this book. It is told from multiple POVs and I had no trouble following this twisty and suspenseful story. The main character Beth, is a smart, tough woman on the run from her abusive husband, and she grabbed me and did not let go. There is domestic abuse referred to with a few descriptions of past incidents, but it is not too graphic. This book had me stopping everything to listen to the narration and get to the climactic finish. The tension built and I found myself rooting for the Beth all the way. Kimberly Belle has written a clever, intriguing, tension-filled story. It had me feeling very emotional from angry, sad, hopeful, and tense. It was very well-plotted an.d the pace was excellent. The characters were very well-written and I could almost picture them as this story unfolded. As the end came, I could look back on the clues sprinkled throughout the story that made the ending perfect. This was a well-written thriller that will remain with me for awhile and I will definitely be looking for more books from Kimberly Belle. I was fortunate to get a copy of the audiobook produced by Harlequin Audio and I loved it. The multiple narrators allowed me to recognize the characters immediately as the POV changed. Each character had a unique voice that fit the story perfectly and allowed me to picture them. It almost felt like a movie as the story unfurled with these wonderful voices. I definitely recommend you read this one, or listen to it if you get the opportunity. One of my top books for 2019.

Sabine has left her abusive husband and is driving to a new location and, hopefully, a new life. She has planned her escape from him for a long time and hopes there will be no glitches. Jeffrey has just returned from a business trip to find the house in a mess and Sabine, a successful realtor, at a house showing. He hates the messes she leaves and resents it even though she now makes more money than he does. When Sabine doesn’t return and Jeffrey cannot reach her on her phone, he becomes concerned and even more angry. Ingrid is Sabine’s twin sister and the two are very close but quite different in looks. Ingrid and Jeffrey have never gotten along and he resents her interference and pushy ways. She arrives at the house and demands that Jeffrey call the police. Detective Marcus Durand interviews Jeffrey and Ingrid and takes a great interest in this missing person. His family knows how hard he works and how he doesn’t like to give up on a case. Tension builds as Sabine tries not to be found. She has worked long and hard to keep from being discovered. Will she be successful in doing so? This story built well and the characters are all well-created. The ending is not what I was expecting but having read lots of thrillers, I suspected what might be coming and I was right. But, I’m betting a lot of readers will be even more shocked at the ending that I was. Enjoy! Copy provided by NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.

This was my first Kimberly Belle book & I couldn't put it down! Why did I wait so long to give her a try? Beth Murphy is on the run from her abusive husband. She knows he's coming after her, it's simply a matter of time before he finds her. Sabine Hardison is missing. Her life is anything but what it seemed. Is she on the run or has she met with a more sinister end? Marcus, the investigating Detective will stop at nothing, tracking down leads, determined to bring the missing woman home. Told in 3 district POVs Dear Wife was filled with secrets, lies, suspense and a whole lot of tension that kept me steadily turning the pages. If you crack this one open - be sure you have carved out a big chunk of time. This is one thriller you will not be able to simply put down.

Holy moly what a story!!!! At first it seemed like your usual husband beats wife, wife disappears, husband is blamed and wife reappears until it wasn’t. All of a sudden the story took a turn and I had to go back and re-read that page in case my eyes played a trick on me. I don’t want to give anything else away so find this book and read it!!! You won’t be sorry!!!

Holy Smokes!!! This one was great!!! This is my first, but not last, Kimberly Belle book. She has crafted a creepy, dark and twisty story that is both domestic drama and high suspense. The story is told from several POV's and each one completely rerouted my thinking. I did figure out the major plot point but it was one heck of a ride getting there!! Thank you so much #NetGalley, Kimberley Belle and #Harlequin for this ARC!!!

Well crafted, menacing, and delightfully unnerving! Dear Wife is a suspenseful, riveting thrill ride that delves into the emotional and psychological damage caused by domestic abuse and highlights just how easily dominance, manipulation and intimidation can be masked as love. The writing is tight and intense. The characters are resolute, secretive, and apprehensive. And the plot, told from three different POVs, builds steadily as it twists, turns, and unravels all the behaviours, motivations, relationships, and personalities within it. Dear Wife is, ultimately, a story of obsession, deception, desperation, survival, violence, and murder. It’s creepy, shocking, unputdownable, and without a doubt one of the best psychological thrillers I’ve read this year.

I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Belle leads the reader down a road of danger and suspense. Who can you trust when your abusive husband is a cop? Delve through the anger, the lies, the truths but hold onto your seat because it could be a rough ride. Enjoy!

Two women - one running from an abusive relationship and with escape plans that were in the making for a while and the other we are unclear about. Sabine never made it to her house showing and Beth is the one we aren't sure about. We have no background information on Beth, but Sabine has a twin sister, a husband, and a lover. Do both women have similar situations and travel plans or just plans to leave and get away no matter where they go? Or do both women have no connection? We then are introduced to a detective, Marcus, who is relentless in his investigation. You will wonder what his deal is. Each chapter is titled with either Beth, Jeffrey, or Marcus and describes their thoughts, their actions, and what is going on with them during the investigation and disappearance. It is puzzling why Sabine doesn't have her own chapter heading. Ms. Belle expertly gives the reader tidbits of information and makes us "think" we are solving the mystery, but you will need to be an outstanding detective to figure it out. DEAR WIFE is a bit confusing at first and does include domestic abuse, but the story line will keep you curiously turning the pages until the chilling ending. ENJOY if you read DEAR WIFE, and let everyone know if you were an amazing detective. 4/5 This book was given to me as an ARC by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This book was a super fast, easy and page gripping book. Writing at it's best, it kept me turning those pages and devouring every word. What an imagination this author has been blessed with. There are more twists and turns, down the rabbit hole moments than I could grasp at times, such sadness, terror and hurt. This book has it all, but it is also very realistic because this could very easily happen to someone we know, maybe not to the extent that was portrayed in this story but none the less it's a scary thought. I loved the different character perspectives throughout the chapters too. Dear Wife is an emotionally-charged read featuring damaged characters and a story that is chilling. While it’s touted as a psychological thriller, I found it to be more of a dissection of dysfunctional families set around the story of a woman on the run. The story is told by three different characters and the switching back and forth was done fluidly with the various points of view adding to the characters' depth. The characters were a diverse bunch – they’re complicated, a few were unlikable and some even sinister. But Ms. Belle shows readers where their damage stems from and while I still wasn't endeared to a few, I appreciated getting a glimpse into why they became that way. Within the story, the author handles some big issues: mental illness, healing, family dysfunction and the struggle to persevere after great suffering. The characters are so well developed. Many books like this, you can predict what's going to happen long before it happens, but this book is truly unique and keeps you guessing right to the end. It gave me the chills in spots. It really tugs on the heartstrings as well. All in all a slick thriller that kept me glued to the pages. I will definitely be reading more from Kimberly Belle!

Kimberly Belle does it again! After reading her smash hit Three Days Missing and The Marriage Lie last year, I was so excited to get an advanced copy of her latest book Dear Wife. This one was very reminiscent of Gone Girl. Woman goes missing. Signs point at the husband. Woman is on the run from abusive husband. Detective is trying to find missing woman, dead or alive. This one read much like an episode of Disappeared on Investigation Discovery. I very much enjoyed how Kimberly Belle allowed the story to unfold, revealing bits of information along the way. It kept things interesting and moving forward while still saving the surprises for the end. I must say that I thought I guessed the ending around 50% into the book and then quickly realized that I was wrong. But, I did guess the ending correctly around 80% and from there on out was waiting for the secrets to be revealed. I was left with a couple unanswered questions in the end, which is why this one was a 4 star read for me rather than a 5 star read. But, all in all, I would consider this one pretty un-put-downable. I essentially read it in 2 sittings and was engaged from start to finish. Would highly recommend for fans of Gillian Flynn's Gone Girl or any of you fellow Disappeared fans! I have a feeling Dear Wife is going to be a huge summer success! -I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to NetGalley, Kimberly Belle, and Park Row Books for the opportunity to review.-

Loved this book!!! So many twists and turns. I never guessed the truth about Beth. There were so many clues about her true identity, but I seemed to completely miss them until the end. It was hard to put this book down, I just wanted to find out the truth about everything. Beth was one smart cookie. All the planning that it took and the deliberate actions. I just wished her family members would have helped her. They knew what was going on but chose to look the other way. There was no love lost between Jeffrey and Ingrid. The way that Jeffrey described his wife's sister just made me laugh so hard. Sabine and Ingrid were twins but apparently looked nothing alike. "She (Ingrid) is the angry, ogre version of Sabine, the kind that bathes in swamp water and gnaws on bones under a bridge." Yes, it's mean but I found it funny. This is my favorite Kimberly Belle book so far, and I have loved and read them all. I loved the writing style, characters and story-- simply everything about the book. Definitely recommend the book!!! Absolutely loved it. It will keep you on your toes until the very end. I look forward to reading the author's next book!! I received a complimentary copy of this book from HARLEQUIN – Trade Publishing (U.S. & Canada) through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

It is official; I am now a huge fan of Kimberly Belle! I read The Marriage Lie and liked it, but I loved Dear Wife. Kimberly Belle gives us a nonstop thriller that is tension-filled and had so many twists and turns it had my head spinning. This book grabbed me from the first page and kept me reading well past my bedtime. I am not going to tell you to much about the plot of this book; you will get no spoilers from me. I will say that there are two things that you will know for sure; the first one is that Beth Murphy is on the run from her abusive husband and secondly Sabine Hardison is missing. So this is what I can tell you, Jeffery, Sabine’s husband has reported her missing and the lead detective, Marcus, will do just about anything to find out what has happened to her. Beyond that, the author keeps us guessing and shaking our heads, wondering what is going on. At one point, I felt like everyone was lying and hiding something. Dear Wife is well written, with an engrossing, twisted plot line. The characters are expertly developed, and Ms. Bell makes you love some of the characters and some she makes you hate with all your heart. One of the things that stood out for me was the internal dialogue that Beth had with her abusive husband. Ms. Belle does an excellent job of showing the reader just how terrified an abused woman feels. Dear Wife is a compelling, brilliantly developed, cleverly written domestic thriller that should not be missed. The perfect book to take on your summer vacation! I wholeheartedly recommend this book. ***I kindly received this galley by way of NetGalley/publisher/author. I was not contacted, asked, or required to leave a review. I received no compensation, financial or otherwise. I have voluntarily read this book, and this review is my honest opinion .***

What a wild ride. This book will take you places you won’t believe. It will have you guessing at every turn. Kimberly Belle writes stories that leave you holding on for dear life and this one is one of the best. I was holding my breath in so many places. Shedding tears in others. On the edge of my seat a lot. From missing persons to tragedies to abuse. To family, friends and acquaintances. You meet lots of people in the book and will like most. There were a couple that I truly despised. They were well written but not likable as people. This is one book that you most likely won’t figure out. The dramatic ending is so suspenseful that you will cringe. I was holding my breath through the last ten percent of this book for sure. It’s very well written. Rich well developed characters, whether you love them or hate them. Makes you feel as though you are there with them. It will break your heart and lift you up too. It’s a wonderful story but one you need to read. It has so much feeling and so much going on. Easy to follow though. It hooked me from the very first and didn’t let go until the very end. Thank you to #NetGalley and #Harlequin for this copy in exchange for my complete and honest review. A 5 star book for sure. More if it was possible. A must read and I HIGHLY recommend this one.

After reading The Marriage Lie, I expected Dear Wife to have a dark path, with twisted characters and shady plots. This ARC that I received from the author, Kimberley Belle, Park Row Books and Net Galley, didn’t disappoint. It kept me riveted until the very end. Beth Murphy, not her real name, is on the run from her abusive husband. A plan she has worked on for months, as she’s zigzags her way across the country, knowing that he’ll be on her trail. Meanwhile, Jeffrey waits for his wife to return home from work and finally notifies police, when he can’t locate her, imagining the worst, that she’s been abducted. Marcus Durand, a police detective is assigned the case and the hunt begins for Sabine. This is a real page turner that will keep you guessing throughout. Another great thriller by Kimberly Belle, that will have me looking forward to the next. #DearWife #KimberlyBelle #ParkRowBooks

Wait! What did I just read?? My head is seriously spinning from the twist in this one! I've given up trying to figure out the secrets as I read so many thrillers and I love being surprised. But this one had my head turning like I was a character in The Exorcist! "Beth" is on the run from an abusive husband as she tries to cover her tracks, even as she is sure he will eventually track her down. In alternating chapters we see her escape and meet Sabine's husband who is worried that his wife is missing but is facing accusations from Marcus, the detective who suspects he has abused his wife. So believe me, it's a wild ride from here to there and when Beth finds a note saying, "Dear Wife, I found you" we are terrified for her...but it's not over yet! Loved the suspense and action in this. Belle speaks very poignantly about spousal abuse, friendship, deception, secrets, and lies. This is a must-read for thriller fans! Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC!

I was hooked from the first page and it just kept getting better and better. Sabine is a real estate agent with an abusive husband and she goes missing. "Beth" is on the run from her abusive husband. When you think you know what is going on, you get thrown a curve ball and everything changes. This is my favorite kind of book with twists and turns that keep you wondering, guessing and speculating with an ending that I would never have imagined. I inhaled this book in record time because I could not put it down. Thank you NetGalley and Harlequin for the opportunity to read and review this book that still has me shaking my head. If you want a good thriller, I highly recommend this book.
