The French government plans to locate a nuclear reactor on the site of a prehistoric burial monument on the Brittany Coast. Plans are interrupted when an official is murdered—in circumstances that bear unmistakable signs of witchcraft. Professor Toby Glendower halts an archaeological dig when the body of a recent murder victim is discovered, but Toby's kidnapping necessitates Penny Spring, his colleague, finishing the investigation.
