About the Author

Readers often ask if there is a preferred series reading order so they can experience any surprise crossovers as they were meant to be enjoyed. In that case, begin with Mageri, Seven, and then Crossbreed. Otherwise, each series is written so they can be enjoyed independently. Dannika's books have sold millions of copies worldwide.

Deathtrap is a great addition to the Crossbreed Series. Love how the continuing story of Raven and Christopher, is interwoven with all the Keystone members, specifically Shepherd, and their incredible assignments. Kept me reading, and looking forward to book 4. The only hard part is waiting for it! Highly recommend!

AudioBook Review: Stars: Overall 5 Narration 5 Story 5 Dark has done it again! Keystone has a new case, and it promises to be one of the most twisted and strange yet, and the gang is ready to go. A child has been ripped from the womb and is for sale on the black market – and it is up to them to discover the who and what, and find the child. SO much tension here: Raven and Christian’s chemistry is sparking throughout, Shepard often seems like he’s struggling with something from his past, and there is a stranger that keeps reappearing around Raven, but she never seems to deal with questions about who he is and why he’s there. Oh the questions are endless, and the answers come in tiny reveals, as we are allowed inside the investigations, get more of Raven’s POV and far less from Christian, and hearts break for Shepard as his backstory and the case seem to intersect in so many ways. From a slower start to the wild twists and a few moments of “oh finally” for Christian and Raven, the story is engaging and engrossing. These are character and case driven stories that work to build the romantic and friendship/teammate connections as they proceed from one case to the next. Oh there is some delicious tension between Raven and Christian – they are well-suited but neither (to their credit) is willing to put themselves or their relationship before the case, and the trust in teammates and the support that is shown allows readers and listeners to see this group in action, and want to be a part of it. With a character that is removing his presence from memories, a chance for Shepard to ‘make things right’ (read avenge) his losses of the past, and some questionable reveals that seemingly only lead to more questions and issues, this story puts the series firmly in my favorites, leaving me with some answers, more questions and desperate to get more. More stories, cases, reveals and answers. Nicole Poole has narrated this series from the start, and she presents the characters with flair: giving everyone their own voice, speech patterns, emotions (or lack of) and personalities. Each moment arrives with the sense that she, as the presenter, is as excited for the story and reveals as the listener should be – and that nuance that is indefinable but very present keeps you in the story and ready for the next. A series that you’ll want to start from the beginning, grab it and give it a listen. You’ve got time before Gaslight (book 4) comes out! I received an AudioBook copy of the title from Tantor Audio for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

Crossbreed Series keeps getting better and better! Deathtrap is Book 3 of the Crossbreed series. This book is fine as a stand-alone, background information enriches the story but is not necessary. I highly recommend the entire series for anyone who loves urban fantasy and paranormal romance. Raven belongs to Keystone, a group of investigators for the breed world. The members happen upon a murdered female. During the search for clues, they realize her newborn has gone missing. The higher authority keeps them on the case since it is likely the child will end up on the black market. The crime uncovers and connects to one of the character's pasts. The full connection is deep, emotional and I did not see it coming. I felt the betrayal. I even had a verbal reaction to it. If I had a physical copy, I would have thrown my book. I appreciate when a story grips me so much I forget what is around me. The bonds between the members continue to grow and their trust in each other builds. I enjoy getting to know the everyone better as partners and individuals. I feel their loyalty to each other and do not doubt they would do anything necessary to keep each other safe. Shepard has a heartbreaking backstory. I hope he gets full closure to the wrongs he has suffered. I hope he finds the courage to confide in someone and not carry his burden alone. The author takes time for romance to blossom for her couples. Their sexual tension is more fierce that way. The chemistry between Christian and Raven is intense. They complement each other perfectly and are realizing they cannot deny the attraction they feel. Christian and Raven have an intimate talk about his bodyguard job. I think this is important for him to come to terms with things in the present. It was also important for me to hear. I never felt right about how that situation ended for Christian. Christian and Raven realize they have an unexpected connection in their pasts. I am so rooting for them to make their relationship work. They both deserve some happiness. Raven and her father Crush spend a few emotional moments together. Christian gains knowledge of him that could be good for Raven. Raven's relationship with her father is important to her. I don't know if she will be able to walk away and never see him again. I worry how Viktor is going to react to the things going on with Raven. Between the potential romance with Christian and now her father's knowledge he is going to need to be understanding. I sense Viktor is a good man it just makes me nervous. Raven meets an interesting character she dubs Chaos. The two of them have some great interactions. I suspect Chaos gave Christian and Raven unseen help during the pursuit of the bad guys. It is obvious he will play a part in future books, possibly as an antagonist. I hope he does not lose his charm and I am eager to find out his breed. Other conflicts for Keystone develop to set up future installments. The world Dannika Dark has created is rich, the characters are unique, and the relationships are meaningful. I have not read a book of hers yet that I did not love. All my opinions are my own and may not match that of others. I encourage all readers to come to their own conclusions.

I was fortunate to start with the Mageri series and have read them all. Each book can stand on its own but is enhanced by having knowledge of the one before it. So far I think I've read everything this Author has published and have loved them all. Cant wait for book four in the Crossbreed Series.
