The Declaration of Independence by Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Robert R. Livingston

“Let us re-adopt the Declaration of Independence, and with it, the practices, and policy, which harmonize with it. ... If we do this, we shall not only have saved the Union: but we shall have saved it, as to make, and keep it, forever worthy of the saving.” – Abraham Lincoln

About the Author

Thomas Jefferson was the third President of the United States (1801–1809), the principal author of the Declaration of Independence (1776), and one of the most influential Founding Fathers for his promotion of the ideals of republicanism in the United States. He envisioned America as the force behind a great “Empire of Liberty” that would promote republicanism and counter the imperialism of the British Empire.

It's the Declaration of Independence, what can I say? Too many Americans THINK they know why we separated from England, but unfortunately, our education system doesn't tell students the WHOLE story. This should be required reading for middle and high school students.
