History is on repeat, and things didn't go so well the last time.

Alexandria isn't sure she's going to make it to her eighteenth birthday-to her Awakening. A long-forgotten, fanatical order is out to kill her, and if the Council ever discovers what she did in the Catskills, she's a goner... and so is Aiden.

If that's not freaky enough, whenever Alex and Seth spend time "training"-which really is just Seth's code word for some up-close and personal one-on-one time-she ends up with another mark of the Apollyon, which brings her one step closer to Awakening ahead of schedule. Awesome.

But as her birthday draws near, her entire world shatters with a startling revelation and she's caught between love and Fate. One will do anything to protect her. One has been lying to her since the beginning. Once the gods have revealed themselves, unleashing their wrath, lives will be irrevocably changed... and destroyed. Those left standing will discover if love is truly greater than Fate...

Oh. My. Gods. There are no words to express how much I loved this book. Deity was absolutely amazing. I had very high expectations for this book, and it lived up to all of them. Deity is definitely the best Covenant book so far, and one of the best books I've read this year. Apollyon is going to have to completely blow my mind to top this! Deity starts off at a fast pace. There's a huge OMG moment in the first chapter itself, and I don't even know how many there are in the whole book; every chapter will have you gasping in shock. Most of the events in Deity lead up to Alex's Awakening, and there are so many twists and turns that you'll be reeling by the end. Alex makes me laugh so much! She's feisty and witty and I don't know how anyone can possibly not love her. She's also incredibly self-sacrificing in this book, and I got to see a different side of her here - a more vulnerable side. Alex is afraid of Awakening, of becoming someone she's not. That fear leads her to do a lot of things, and it changes her. She's still as reckless as always, though. Aiden. *Sigh* Aiden was perfect in Deity. Absolutely perfect. After what he did for Alex in Pure, I knew it was only a matter of time before he breaks his amazingly strong self-control. Thank goodness it happened in Deity! I can't believe Alex had no idea how Aiden felt about her before; it was glaringly obvious to me. Aiden would never let anything happen to Alex. Simple as that. It's sweet how protective he is of Alex even though he knows she can take care of herself. Plus, he's so comforting with her. Alex can go to him for anything, and she has complete trust in him. They would gladly give up everything for each other, and I don't know whether that will help them or cause them pain in future books. Alright, now we come to Seth. Oh, Seth. Why? I don't want to give anything much away, but Seth changes so much in Deity. So much it's unbelievable. I really liked Seth in Half-Blood and Pure, and I still liked him in the first part of Deity. He's funny and witty, and he can make Alex laugh at any time. Alex and Seth have a lot of steamy moments at the beginning of the novel, but the tension between them grows as Alex nears her birthday, the day she Awakens. Seth is slowly changing for the worse, becoming blinded by power. Although, even after he changes, there are moments of hesitation, of vulnerability, which make me think that there is still hope for him. There has to be. I know a lot of people who've read Deity hate Seth now, but I can't bring myself to feel the same. There's still hope. We find out about Seth's childhood in this book, and it made me feel so sorry for him! I desperately want him to redeem himself in Apollyon. Another thing I loved about Deity - Some of the gods make an appearance! It was awesome to witness them in action, and to see their personalities. One of the gods we get to meet is the one and only Apollo! Yes, that's right. I absolutely loved him. And I loved how everyone else treats him with so much respect, but not Alex. Oh no, Alex just says and does whatever she feels like, as usual. Deity is breathtaking, and it completely blew me away. It stunned, amazed, and electrified me all at once. I don't think a lot of books can do that. Jennifer, I bow down to you. I really do. If you haven't read the Covenant series yet, what are you waiting for? Every second reading this series is a second well spent. Apollyon, I can't wait to get my hands on you!

Wow…talk about putting my heart and my head through the wringer. This book was an absolutely amazing and perfect third book for this series. There are so many things that happen in this book that you are afraid to give any of it away. You want everyone to experience it with fresh eyes like I did. I have to say though where I thought book two gave much for team Seth to lust after I feel like book three is definitely for team Aiden and oh yes I’m on team Aiden. I wasn’t sure he could get any yummier than he already is but he most certainly did. We see Aiden really come out of his shell in the book and I mean really. I just wanted to crawl into the pages and hug him. Oh Alex, so naive sometimes. There are things I wanted to scream at her, it’s kind of like watching a horror movie and you want to yell, “Don’t open the door!!” At least there were moments I felt that way. I can see her reasons for her actions but sometimes I just slapped my forehead and though you silly silly girl. Alex has evolved so much through this series and it amazes me how she is still growing and maturing. I think by the end of the series she will be a force to reckon with and it’s more than just being an Apollyon. I continue to be team Aiden all the way, but I never doubted I would be. I also continue to love the side characters; each one has their importance to the book that cannot be ignored. Which is good since Deacon will be my brother-in-law when Aiden marries me…… :o) Enter the Gods; you didn’t think they could stay out of this forever. I’m a big fan of mythology and sometimes books will reference them but not actually bring them in. Well they are a part of this series now in a big way and I love it. The part that they play in the grand scheme of things fits perfectly and is well done. Romance? Ya this book has it to the nines. I actually set the book down and walked away for a day because I wanted to savor the wonderful moment before Sh*t hit the fan. Hit the fan it did, this book had me on my toes like no other. I don’t want to give anything away because it’s one of those books that you want to experience every moment for the first time yourself. To sum it up, this book is absolutely Amazing!! I finished it, and then stared at it….maybe hugged it a little. Then went online to stare at the release date for Apollyon and then roamed around not being able to read another book since this one had me in knots. So I say run out and buy it!! Stand outside the store at midnight if you have to!!

"Best Covenant Book Yet!" Like always when I finished a JLA book, I am speechless. I finished Deity yesterday and my emotions are still all over the place, while I struggle to find a way of EVER talking about what this book did to my heart, and what it means for the Covenant series. Deity brings us back into the world of our beloved characters Alex, Aiden, and Seth, and then turns everything you think you know on its head, ending in a breath-taking cliff-hanger that made me literally screech with frustration. Everything here is heightened - the characters, the relationships, the emotions, and the stakes. With Deity, Jennifer L Armentrout has set herself apart from any other YA author in the industry these days, with a book I will never forget, for what it did. It made me fall in love with the characters all over again, and it broke my heart. I feel like I read Deity by holding my breath, because something was always happening to put these characters that I adore in new peril. Not only is her 18th birthday looming over Alex - she also has her connection to Seth to deal with, not to mention a few key players in her world who have it out for her. And then there's always the mystery of her feelings for Seth, and for Aiden. JLA's feisty heroine takes it all in classic Alex stride, but the scenes where she gave in to her emotions and admitted her fears really broke my heart. We saw a new, vulnerable side of Alex in Deity, and I have to say: I want more. I admire JLA SO much for showing us that Alex isn't just all spirit and fire - she's also very, very human, loving, courageous, and at her core, a girl facing so much more than she's ready for. I connected emotionally with Deity on so many levels, because I've come to really care about Alex. But by far the most profound bond was with Alex and Aiden. There were times in Pure where I waivered and found myself liking Seth, but Deity changed ALL OF THAT. Aiden finally showed that he DOES care about Alex, and just...the two of them make my heart beat faster in EVERY scene. The wealth of affection, trust, and respect between them is so beautiful, and it doesn't even compare to the bond between Alex and Seth. And oh, Alex and Aiden had some gorgeous, steamy scenes but none of that ever felt anything other than genuine. I found myself falling in love with Aiden all over again, even as I felt that sense of impending danger, and knew the sanctuary Alex and Aiden found wouldn't last. The ending of Deity shocked me into silence, then an outraged "What?!," and then just a sense of being heart-broken beyond words. Prepare yourselves because this is a wild, no-holds-barred ride that will jolt your heart in the end. I have a few theories on what the next book will hold, but ultimately, I'm just going to end this review by begging you to read Deity. It's intense, it's crazy, it's perfect. You'll laugh, cry, and swoon. You'll shake your head in denial, all the while reading faster. You NEED this book in your life.

I was always proud to be Greek and believe that speaking Greek is a privilege and now it's one of those moments. Reading words like agapi mou, my love, and zoi mou, my life, made me extremely happy. I don't even know why I have to go over the same procedure I do with all the books I read on Goodreads. It's pretty obvious. 5 stars and one of the best books published in 2012. I decided to start reading the Covenant series a while ago because of what other readers and bloggers wrote about Aiden. So, I gave it a shot. And what a shot that was! The characters, the plot, the twists and finally the cliffhanger were exceptional. Now back to the story. Alex is a step before becoming the Apollyon and the fact that Seth can't keep his hands off her doesn't help. Seth, or Cuddle Bunny, is still one of the hottest guys and he's also the only guy who's trying to win Alex's heart, even when it belongs to a special pure-blood. But he has his humor as his #1 weapon. His lines are delightful. “Seth?” “Yeah?” “You were in my dream.” “Please tell me we were naked.” “Our training was rather…exhausting. You know, there's a lot of moving, sweating, thrust—“ “Seth,” I snapped I wanted to touch him. “I know what you're feeling right now. I totally approve of it.” Alex loves them and she tries to accept that she and Aiden don't have a future as a couple. But when Seth announces that he has to accompany Lucian back to the New York Covenant, she wants to go with him because her father is a servant there. There is no way Seth will let her follow him and that's when everything changes. Because the Order of Thanatos, Death in Greek, wants Alex dead. And you know what? The Order gets its wish. Alex dies and goes to the Underworld, where her best-friend, Caleb, awaits and for a dead guy he's pretty funny. “No. Persephone owed me one. We were playing Mario Kart Wii and I let her win. I crashed in my favor.” “You have the Wii down here?” “What? We get bored. Especially Persephone, when she's down here during these months. Usually Hades doesn't play, thank the gods. He freaking cheats.” But fate or maybe one god in particular brings her back to life and now she has to stay at Aiden’s house for her protection and that brings them close. Very close. And that's when the best moment in this book, make that the series, occurs. Aiden confesses his true feelings to Alex. He can't hide how deeply and madly in love he is with her and she returns the feeling. The outcome? A night full of love and adoration. “ I wanted a piece of you with me always. No matter, what.” I shuddered. “But I don't…I don't have anything of you.” “ Yes, you do. You'll have a piece of my heart forever. Even if your heart belongs to someone else.” After that, they're both ready to face everything this decision will bring as long as they're together. Although they have far more dangerous things to take care of. And these things are Lucian, who has gone crazy and he's thirsty for…power and SETH, Lucian's weapon and means of success. But the gods are not happy, not at all and three of them, starting with Poseidon who will do everything , even cause the deaths of innocent people. Then we have Hades, who wants Alexandra to follow him in the Underworld but then Artemis appears — she's pretty cool for a goddess —who saves Alex and reveals a secret about her family tree that takes her by surprise. “So I will say it one more time just in case Persephone has befuddled that brain of yours—stand down.” Artemis replaced the arrow back in her quiver and gave Aiden a sexy little grin. “ They just keep getting yummier.” So, when they finally get away from the crazy-version of Seth and the gods’ wrath, everyone is waiting for Alexandra to Awaken. And when she does…that's how Deity ends. So frustrating. I hate it when they do that. Cliffhanger, again! But still, it's one of the best books I've read and the wait for Apollyon, the fourth installment in the Covenant series, will be…frustrating! What else?

So good!! No matter how hard headed Alex is, I find myself always rooting for the girl. And Seth! He's such a mystery but I'm sure we'll be figuring him out soon. I'm a huge fan of Greek mythology and I love how in this book (spoiler alert) some of the Gods make an appearance and we get to really see how their powers and their attitudes coincide with one another. Whenever the Gods would appear, I was greatly entertained and very amused!

You know how sometimes a series can get a bit stale? Well, that is NOT the case with the Covenant Series. In my opinion, this series gets better and better as the series grows.  Deity gave me some answers I needed, yet kept my blood pumping for more. I got the action-packed story that I love, but Deity is also filled with some really spectacular romantic moments. I mean seriously...Aiden is a dream.  There really isn't much I can say about this book, because you really just need to read the series. The Covenant Series is truly a gem of a series. If you haven't started it yet, what are you waiting for? Quotes: ~In the silence of the early morning, I admitted that there was no getting over Aiden. No matter what happened from here on out, my heart would remain his.-Loc 2535 ~Horror stole my breath. And it struck me then. That was the difference between Aiden and Seth. No matter how badly Aiden would want to strike back or how much he wanted something, he would never risk me.-Loc 4758 ~"Are you ok?" Aiden asked Deacon. He nodded slowly. "Yeah, I'm great. Nothing like witnessing a death match between gods when I'm trying to get some Cheetos."-Loc 5191

4.5☆ I loved this book! I still love Aiden and Alex. They are both interesting and funny characters and I’m happy they can overcome the many obstacles they have to face in their relationship. I love the addition of the “new” character and how he interacts with the other characters. The ending is quite intense!

The Good I read this in one sitting. Then I came to that ending! UGH Armentrout has a knack of tearing you up with an ending and have you salivating for the next book. I'm going to take a bit of a break on this series though after this one and finish the rest later. So much happens. I'm loving the mythology that runs rampant through the story and how that aspect is so different from what I've read before. I just love these characters as well. I think it's great that Alex has a hard time really trusting anyone and it makes me suspicious of EVERYONE while reading. Even characters she may not be. While I did call one of the surprises, I was still surprised by other twists that took place. Just about everyone should have at least one shock, even those that are excellent at predicting what could come. The story is rocketing into new territory by the end of this one. Deity is definitely a book that turns the series on its head. The Bad Alex goes through so much in Deity, but her choices have a way of landing her in a bunch of trouble. While I love her, that's definitely an area of her character that I hope to enjoy seeing more growth in through future books. The Romance Alex does have two guys vying for her attention, but the truth is I've only felt that one is a viable option. I really liked where this one went in terms of romance. It really moved things along on that front. Conclusion Deity is full of twists and surprises. Some you may see coming, but I bet you won't be able to guess them all. There is a good amount of action and intensity. There are truths revealed and some great depths into the characters with more background information revealed. Alex does have a habit of making some wrong choices, and I do hope to see that part of her character grow in the future. The ending is one that will have you yelling at Armentrout for a bit. Recommended.

Rating: 4.5 / 5. I can not express how happy I am with the way everything turned out overall. But I am not talking about the actual story itself, I am talking more about the writing and the events that took place. I had loved reading Half-Blood (read my review HERE), but when I read Pure (read my review HERE), I didn't enjoy it as much as the first book. This book, however was a great improvement from the previous one and as usual with all of Armentrout's books, I loved it! This book continued with Alex's story, and while Pure had focused more on Seth, this book took a turn and focused more on Aiden, which I was thrilled about. [SPOILER SENTENCE AHEAD!! HIGHLIGHT TEXT AFTER ENDING BRACKET TO READ IT] Not that I am on team Aiden or Seth or anything, because I always Knew who Alex would end up with, and honestly I love both Aiden and Seth equally. Seth, however, really disappointed me in this book. Everything he did from the beginning till the end of the book was just sad. I understand why he did it and that Lucien was influencing him with his fake affections, but Seth should have been smart enough to see through the act and do the right thing. I was very mad at Seth after finishing reading this book, but I hope he will change and make the right choices. As with all of Armentrout's books, this book was also very well written and perfectly paced. The heartwarming romance, breathtaking action, surprising twists and turns every few pages will keep you on the edge throughout the entire book and won't stop even after you have finished reading the book. Not to mention that the cliffhanger would have you dying to read the next book. Deity was just fabulous! I loved every single page of this book and this entire series is a must read! Quotes: “Yeah, I'm great. Nothing like witnessing a death match between gods when I'm trying to get some Cheetos." *** “Whispers followed me down the hall. Ignoring them was harder than I´d imagined. Every Cell in my body demanded that I confront them. And do what? Jump on them like a crazy spider monkey and take them all out? Yah, not going to win me any fans.” *** “Don't look at me like I've kicked a baby pegasus into the street.” *** “You're too strong to ever lose yourself. I believe that. Why can't you?”

Originally posted on my blog: Tangled Up In Books Can I be honest with you guys? I haven't really been feeling this series. Don't get me wrong! I have really, really liked it, but it was never that deep, crazy, intense love that I normally feel when reading something by JLA. Look at my start and stop track record. Since 2013 until now I have read both Half-Blood and Pure three times now and never even put a dent in Deity. I've hated the fact that even though I was enjoying these books I didn't feel like I did when reading Lux or The Dark Elements or Wait for You or anything else I'd read by her. And then the other day I picked up Deity and...everything changed. And I mean everything ! I was worried about feelings? Now I have so many I don't even know how to deal with them. And all I can do is just sit here and stare at the book and wonder...what the heck did I just read?! --A lump of horror and frustration formed in my throat. Oh man this book was such an intense and frustrating ride! I swear only JLA can write something that would have me frustrated to the point where I wanted to physically hurt someone or something one moment, in the next nonstop tears, and then moments after that laughing hysterically. I don't know how she does it! Even my feelings for certain characters have been flipped upside down. I went into this feeling very strongly one way and came out the other side completely reversed. The woman is a magician. --It was official. The gods were overgrown children. I am a huge lover of Greek mythology. So I think one of my most favorite things about this book was getting to meet a few of the gods. I always figured it would happen eventually, but I thought that maybe it would be more towards the end of the series. Getting to see three? I was over the moon! One of them was part of some of the funniest scenes and I couldn't get enough. I wanted more of him! Then the other two, well it was pretty intense. And as crazy and chaotic as everything is at the end of this one, I'm really hoping that means that there are more of them to come. --'Don't look at me like I've kicked a baby pegasus into the street.' Though I wasn't really a huge Alex fan in the beginning of the series, that's also something that's now changed. She was always just so reckless and never really used her brain and it drove me crazy. I absolutely adore her now. She's fierce and the reason she's always so reckless is because she lets her heart lead her. She's so full of passion and a sense of duty. Alex has so many things weighing down on her and I love the fact that through it all she's still filled with so much hope, though a lot of it was misguided hope, but nonetheless I respected her for that. And the fact that she could find things to laugh about and still have her sarcastic side after everything she's been through, I don't know how she hasn't cracked yet. She kicks some ass in a major way. --'I wanted a piece of you with me always. No matter what.' I don't really want to get into anything else just in case there are those out there, like me, who haven't gotten very far into this series yet. All I can say is this book shocked me, broke me, filled me with rage and made me, finally, fall in love, a deep, deep love, with this series. The holy crap factor was bumped up quite a few notches. I was on the edge of my seat and lost sleep and that ending? I think if I'd have read this back when it was first released I would've died having to wait and find out what was going to become of it. What a difference one book can make am I right?
