HOLY COW! What an ending!!! I had to say that first before I said anything else! The world this author has created is incredible, the characters are larger than life and I was completely engrossed in the storyline. Destiny isn't a quick read. There is so much to take in that I found myself stopping a lot to try and fit all the pieces together. I don't mean this as a criticism but more to point out that despite its length, I was heavily invested in seeing how everything worked out. Eira is an assassin created with several genetic enhancements. She has one major flaw, she can't experience a full range of emotions. This makes her a loner of sorts due to her lack of social propriety. Raikidan is a dragon shifter who is unfamiliar with the human/nu-human world. When their paths cross, he agrees to help her with her quest for revenge against Zarda, the man currently in control of their government, though his motives are unclear. From shamans to shifters, high tech vehicles and weapons, this book has it all. I was gifted a copy of this through Choosy Bookworm, which I have voluntarily read.

Destiny is the first book by Shannon Pemrick that I have read, so I wasn't sure what to expect. What I found was a storyline that was a combination of fantasy and paranormal. filled with supernatural creatures. There is violence. The book blurb adequately describes the storyline so I'm not going to repeat that all of that info here. If you like an Alpha kick butt female lead character who is a NuHuman (human with modified DNA), dragons, and elves then you will enjoy this book. The author did a good job of setting the stage for both the book as well as the series. The characters are multi-dimensional and well written with vivid imagery of both the character descriptions as well as the settings. There are a lot of clues in the storyline that keep you guessing what twists and turns will be revealed next. Enough to keep me riveted just to see how it ended. As usual not everything, or everyone, are as they appear. My rating would normally be higher considering how well written this book was. But the way the book ended lowered my rating. It just ended very abruptly, not even a cliffhanger, leaving me with a lot of questions. I will read the next book in this series and hopefully my unresolved questions from Destiny will be answered. I received a copy of this book and chose to review it.

I was given a gift copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Eira has never felt as if she fit in. She is half human half something else. An experiment in genetics like many others but always different no matter how hard she tries to fit in. Eira runs away from the city in an attempt to keep her friends safe from harm, When it seems as though the Hunters have finally succeed in their mission to be rid of her she is saved by a most unexpected source one she thought to be a myth. Raikadain has never met anyone like Eira and is instantly drawn to her and her cause. Eira and Raikadain fight side by side along with many others to try and right the injustices they see going on in the city. They want to make it a sfae place for citizens and experiments alike. Will they succeed in their quest or will evil prevail? There are a lot of great characters in this book and the plot is amazing. There are lots of battles, conflicting emotions as well as humor thrown in. If you are a fan of sci-fi and the paranormal this is definitely the book for you.

I am a very picky reader and have a hard time finding books that keep my interest for more than a couple hours. Well this is just the kind of book to keep me reading! I love the fantasy and the suspense at the end of each chapter. The thrill of reading such an intense book is simply bliss. I love the mixture of romance and agony. Keeps a twist on things and keeps me, as a reader, wondering what will come next. There is nothing about this book that I hate. The aura between Laz and Radikidan is breath taking. Between Radikidan's confusion of the NuHuman race and Laz's inability to figure out what her feelings are, always keeps me on my toes to see if there is really more than just a comrade relationship. There is more than just romance and frustrating feelings. The battles Laz's team faces with the NuHuman race are suspenceful. Its a race against time to over throw, Zarda, the tyrant of the city. Laz and her team have to face many challenges to get through the city without getting flagged and their cover blown. I give this book 5 stars for creativeness and passion. There is nothing more than a good book that keeps a readers interest without them knowing until the book is done and/or its the middle of the night.
