About the Author

The Vegetable Gardening book is the first of a series which will include Roses, Annuals and Perennials, Soilbuilding, Houseplants, and Trees and Shrubs, and any others (maybe one about gardening using native species?). I am looking forward to it!

I have a new book out -- Angel in the Whirlwind, a short story collection. Check it out.

My book, Courageous Women of the Civil War, has been published by Chicago Review Press. I earned my Master's in Writing for Children from Hamline University. My fiction and articles have appeared in Cricket, Highlights, The Horn Book, Organic Gardening, Birds and Blooms, and Grit. I worked as a city horticulturist, as well as working in landscaping, greenhouses, rose gardens, and just about every aspect of horticulture (except for lawns, I am no fan of lawns).
