Thanks to her unique ability to step into other people's dreams, Dr. Sara Alderson has solved murders, unraveled conspiracies and saved lives. But when a crisis hits close to home, even her supernatural gift might not be enough to avert disaster.

On a family vacation to Paris, Sara's fifteen-year-old daughter Grace disappears without a trace. The only way to find her is through Sara's dreams. But her gift has taken an unwanted vacation, and without it, Sara has no idea how to rescue Grace. In a foreign city, with no clues, and her dreaming talent failing her for the first time, Sara must figure out another way to find Grace before it's too late.

Sara and Brian’s dream family vacation to Paris feels achingly real, from children clamoring, to adults buying meals, to walks around Paris and honest delight in the sights. Sara’s dreams, always present in this series, warn her that somebody else’s child might be in danger. But she doesn’t know who, and she tries to keep her mind on her own family. However, lovesick teenagers can be awkwardly good at escaping their mother’s gaze, and Sara’s oldest daughter soon turns this dream into a nightmare. Readers might guess faster than the protagonist what’s going on. But the story stays firmly in the Sara’s point of view, pulling readers along so they share in her terror and urgent need to find the missing child. Parents of teenage girls might find wise lessons hidden between the lines. Parents of wandering offspring will see how easily mistakes can be made. And parents just looking for a good read will eagerly pray for a safe resolution. Dream Vacation deals in very real, very scary situations, adds paranormal dreams and touches of romance, young and old, and offers a fast-flowing, satisfying and thoroughly enjoyable read. Disclosure: I can’t remember how I got this one, but I really enjoyed it.

A supernatural mystery. An emotional roller coaster with REAL Kids doing REAL things. Takes me back to my youth.
