Air Force One

As part of Columbia/TriStar Home Entertainment's new Superbit Collection of DVDs, director Wolfgang Peterson's action-packed patriotic fantasy about a group of crazed Russian terrorists (led by Gary Oldman) who hijack Air Force One, only to be pummeled, maimed, and killed by the President himself (played by the stoic but always heroic Harrison Ford), this disc careens into your home like never before. The Superbit Collection uses a higher bit rate than the original DVD releases. Basically, by offering only the film on the disc (the Superbit discs do not contain any extras, not even a trailer), the digital bit transfer rate (the process of reading information on the disc) can be doubled, offering the viewer a sharper, clearer picture. That's the sales pitch at least. Air Force One does look and sound excellent. The picture is always sharp and free of artifacts, and the Dolby Digital 5.1 sound is powerful. Dialog occasionally gets lost in the mix, but overall it's fine. Rich bass and much channel separation easily give one ample opportunity to crank up the sound and revel in the mayhem. A DTS soundtrack option is also available. The disc is available in 2.35:1 widescreen ratio and has been given English, French, and Spanish subtitle options.

Great action flick on how a U. S. President can really take charge. Harrison Ford plays the Prez, whose personal airplane gets commandeered by terrorists, and his incredulous strking back and fighting the terrorists head-on. Director Wolfgang Peterson does an outstanding job of alternating between the high-impact action inside the place, and the drama unfolding among the President's staff outside. Outstanding casting of Harrison Ford, Gary Oldman, Glenn Close all the way down the line.

I was in 10th grade when this movie came out, and I remember going to see it with my mom and younger brother after it's release. My mom has always loved Harrison Ford, so she was pretty adament about going to see it...and as far as I was concerned, Harrison Ford is the man, so I was certainly up for it too. After growing up on Indiana Jones, Star Wars, etc...I was totally up for seeing this movie too. We all absolutely loved it...most especially my mom and I! I have loved this movie ever since, and still continue to watch it on occasion. A bonafide classic, in my book. So, once I came across a good priced blue ray copy of this movie, naturally I scooped it up. Definitely a worth while movie, and most certainly blue ray worthy. This is absolutely one of my favorite espionage/action movies of all time! If you have never seen this movie before, do yourself a it! Listed below are other great, classic Harrison Ford titles!

How can you overlook this movie? With it's well crafted mix of story, action sequences and even acting (hats off to everyone), it redefines an entertaining and intelligent movie. This movie just plainly flows with everything mixed in well.

One unforgettable movie casting Harrison Ford. This one I don't mind seeing a few more times again.
