We watched this Christmas special on TV when our sons "now 23 and 16" were little boys. It has remained one of our all-time favorite Christmas programs for nearly 20 years! Through this DVD, we can re-live our memories of watching Sesame Street every afternoon with our boys, and we can enjoy seeing Bob, Maria, and the others in their "younger" days! When we discovered that the special was available on DVD, we HAD to HAVE it. Even now as adults, we ALL enjoy celebrating the holidays with the music, the script, and those lovable Sesame Street characters that all were born through the CREATIVE GENIUS of Jim Henson.

Filmed in the late 1970s and not seen on PBS since the early 1990s, ''Christmas Eve on Sesame Street'' brings most of the human and Muppet cast of the time [Mr. Hooper, Olivia and David are there, but Luis is curiously absent] for a charming Christmas tale. The main plot has Big Bird obsessing over how Santa gets down those skinny New York City apartment chimneys, while the subplots have Bert and Ernie reenact O. Henry's ''Gifts of the Magi'' and Cookie Monster attempt to write a letter to Santa. Also includes two great songs -- Oscar the Grouch's ''I Hate Christmas,'' which has him at his grouchy best as he pranks his friends and neighbors, and ''Keep Christmas With You,'' a touching song performed by Bob McGrath. A lot of fun from the glorious pre-Elmo days!
