Eager to prove his responsibility and trustworthiness, Sonic (Ben Schwartz) convinces Maddie (Tika Sumpter) and Tom (James Marsden) to leave him home unattended while they venture on a couple's vacation. Yet things quickly go awry with the unexpected return of the sinister Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) and his new ally, Knuckles (Idris Elba), who seek out a powerful crystal capable of destroying the world.
