The new transfers for The Godfather Parts I and II are stunning. It really is like seeing them for the first time. All of the murky, faded colors have been restored to their original glory while still retaining the warmth of the film stock. Gordon Willis' then-controversial cinematography can finally be seen they way it was intended on these new discs. If you have the original box set, it is worth it to double dip if only for the restoration job on these two films.

Carried over from the original set are all of Francis Ford Coppola's commentary tracks for the three films. On The Godfather one, he appropriately enough, starts off by talking about the film's famous opening scene and how it was supposed to start with the wedding but a friend suggested he do something else. Coppola talks about how he organized the elaborate wedding sequence and shot it only 2-3 days! He talks about the pressure he was under by the studio and in read danger of being fired because they didn't like what he was doing. This is pretty solid track that we've come to expect from the veteran filmmaker.

Coppola's contributes another excellent commentary for The Godfather Part II. Initially, he had no interest in doing a sequel and dealing with studio bureaucracy. He suggested Martin Scorsese for the job. The studio balked at this idea and accepted all of Coppola's terms. The veteran filmmaker talks at length about the development of the Corleone family from Part I. Coppola is engaging and very articulate, delivering a top notch track that is well worth a listen for any fan of this movie.

Finally, there is Coppola's commentary for The Godfather Part III. One of the heated debates the filmmaker had with the studio was over Pacino's hair. He wanted Michael to look older and like a man in crisis, while the studio didn't want to mess with Pacino's distinctive looks. Coppola defends his casting of Sofia and feels that she delivered a "real" performance because she wasn't an actor. He also addresses the scathing criticism she received as in fact an attack on him. This is a solid track with good observations and analysis by Coppola -- better than the film itself.

The Godfather trilogy is the best movie of all time. I consider the trilogy more like 1 movie just because it is about the life of one family. That is why I believe the Godfather to be the best movie ever made in history. This movie has everything you could want in a movie. It has romance, action, humor, and much more. I think this trilogy should be in every household in America. The story is great, the actors are simply phenomenal, and the script is amazing. In fact, the Godfather is one of the most quoted films of all times ("Leave the gun, take the cannoli"). This movie is remarkable in every sense of the word. I think everyone of age should see this movie.

The Godfather series progress through each film. The acting in each movie is exceptional. Al Pacino, Marlon Brando, Robert DeNiro....and others will help you enjoy the romanticized life style of the mafiosa lifestyle and culture in new york and other areas in america. I thoroughly was engrossed by the experience. Enjoy!

I can't speak to the product since it was a gift, but the customer service I did NOT receive was deplorable! The item was ordered online because it was guaranteed delivery by Christmas. Two days after placing the order, I receive an email telling me it was delayed and I would not be receiving it in time for the holiday. Now it's too late to purchase the item from another source by Christmas. When I wrote a respectful letter of complaint to bn.com explaining my situation, I never received so much as an acknowledgement. I will NEVER do business with bn.com again. The least they could have done was apologize to me for my inconvenience. I am completely disgusted by the complete and total lack of customer service.

Two of these are the greatest movies ever and the extra scenes that were cut would have been just as good in the films.

Classic. This movie was and is a classic. I was completely stunned into silence once the credits started rolling after the first movie finished. The acting, the story, everything was so well put together. Part two was just as fantastic. I'm telling you. Buy the collection because it will cost less than purchasing all three seperately. You'll WANT to own all three. The movie wouldn't be so much for children ages 12-under. There is violence and bloodshed. Some swearing. But nothing too over-the-top. Not only is the series fantastic, but the soundtrack. I have two copies of it. One stays in my car's stereo and the other in my stereo in my room. Enjoy!

This is my all time favorite movie. I got into mafia movies after I stared in aschool play about Bugsy Malone and I researched famous mafia movies and I decided to start with the Godfather. After wathching these films, I became an Al Pacino freak and I collect his movies now. The acting is all great and I love the story. I even love the third one even though everyone says that it's horrible.
