Elsa is a business owner in Wirralong. She’s a hairdresser, making most of her profit through weddings. Elsa’s shop is busy and when Jack enters for the first time, she doesn’t have room on her schedule to help him. He needs an emergency cut and uses her equipment instead. The next time Jack walks into her shop Elsa makes sure she does have a moment for him. Jack doesn’t have any friends in Wirralong and he’s completely alone and Elsa would love to change that. Will she be able to get him out of his shell and show him that not everyone wants him to leave town because they dislike his father? Jack has made his fortune mining opals. His mother passed on this passion for gems and Jack has made finding precious stones his life work. He leaves his mine behind to stay in Wirralong after the sudden death of his mother. It doesn’t feel like home, but Elsa’s there and she’s the woman of his dreams. Jack is afraid his bad reputation will harm Elsa’s business, but the woman is stubborn and only sees his kindness. Will he be brave enough to give her a chance or will prejudice and gossip chase Jack out of Wirralong once more? Elsa’s Stand is a beautiful love story. Both Elsa and Jack are very special. They’ve got big hearts and are sweet and generous. Their love is truly wonderful. They’re soul mates and it’s clear they belong with each other. I love it when a connection between two main characters runs so deep and really enjoyed reading about these terrific main characters. Elsa and Jack have many problems to deal with and the obstacles they have on their way are often tough to overcome, so finding out if they’d have a chance to be happy together kept me on the edge of my seat. I'm a big fan of small town romance and Cathryn Hein knows how to make a community feel real. She has written an amazing intense love story. I loved her gorgeous pure descriptions of each emotion she writes about, it makes her story come to life in a fantastic way. Elsa’s Stand is passionate, moving and heartwarming. I absolutely adored this fantastic gem of a romantic story, it melted my heart and the fabulous feelgood vibe it's given me will stay with me for a long time.

Elsa’s Stand is the third book in new multi-author Outback Brides series. In this book we have story of Elsa O’Donoghue. Elsa is the owner of Hair Affair and the hairdresser and she is a part of all the stories so far. Elsa is a hard-working woman and she has such a warm heart that will make you fall in love with her. She is strong-willed and will not let anything stop her getting what she wants. Jack Hargreaves has returned to Wirralong after his mother’s death. He enters Hair Affair on his way to his mother’s funeral to get a quick haircut, but Elsa is too busy with a wedding party. So, Jack walks over to the trolley with her clippers on it and helps himself and has a quick shave with the beard trimmers and before leaving he drops a hundred bucks on the counter. Elsa is drooling when he leaves and strips off his shirt in the main street outside her shop to change for the funeral. Jack left Wirralong many years ago after the town had judged him on his father’s wrong doings. He has been an opal miner since then with his own claim. He is staying at his mother’s property and repairing it as she had let it go into disrepair, in her search for sapphires on the property. Jack had a call from her before she died saying she had found them but had reburied them. Now Jack was searching for the illusive sapphires. Elsa’s Stand is another fun-loving story in this fantastic series. There are many twists that will once again keep the reader hooked until the very end. I totally enjoy how Cathryn has written the characters in this book and how realistic she has made the story feel. We feel every single emotion along with the characters and we laugh and cry at times and then feel frustrated at other times. We all know how true it is to be judged by communities on past family mistakes. People are always quick to judge and not give the benefit of the doubt. It is why I likes Elsa so much as she was not like that she trusted Jack for who he was. This book and the others in this series could be read as standalone. I would highly recommend this book. I am looking forward to continuing reading in this series.

This is the third book in the Outback Brides series. If you have read the first two books you will know that Elsa is the hairdresser that Maggie and Izzy are friends with. If you have not read the other books, no biggie, as each book is easily read as a stand alone book. BUT might I highly suggest reading all the books. You will really enjoy this series of friends and enjoy the series so much more too. Now on to Elsa and her story. Elsa is the stronger of all the "Brides". She knows what she wants and she doesn't let anyone stand in her way. When the book opens we meet Jack Hargreaves and really get to know about the true Outback. Jack is an opal miner and he is back in town for his mother's funeral. She lived in town and was a sapphire miner herself. Oh yes one could say the need to hunt for stones runs deep with this family. He was left a voicemail on the day she passed away saying she finally found the sapphires and hide them again on the family farm. The one he inherited upon hr death. So does he stay and become a gentleman farmer or sell and go back to being an opal miner? But see Jake is not the only person left behind, he has a brother Jesse and their father as well. Jesse and their father live in Melbourne and lets just say they are different as night and day to Jake and his mom. And because of the fact that his father is known as a gangland person many of the people in the town look down on Jake. He thinks he is not worthy of Elsa and this is the theme we see in the book. So far this is my favorite of the three i have read. It has shown me so of how strong Elsa is both in character and mental strength. Jake had me in tears so many times reading his story and the backstory. I loved how well written this book is. I can see the outback in all the dirt and dust. The caves and all the places that the miners hunker down at night. Then we move into town and we get to meet the townsfolk some are nice, some not so much. But all true to a small town all up in each others business. What a I really loved this book and I especially loved the ending.

I loved Elsa’s Stand by Cathryn Hein, book three in the Outback Brides series, a wonderful friend to lovers story. Jack disliked the way people in Wirralong treated and thought of him, his brother and mother while growing up. This was because of who his father is and many of the Wirralong townspeople believed in the old adage ‘like father like son’. I liked how Jack proved everyone wrong. Elsa was a businesswoman, operating the hair salon, before Wirralong became the destination for weddings. Elsa was kind, caring, resilient, courageous, which had me enjoying how determined and stubborn she was to win over Jack. I also liked how she wasn’t afraid to stand up for Jack, even if it could harm her business. The fact that she believes no one has the right to judge someone because of who their parents are is another point in her favor. I also liked that Jack would do anything to protect Elsa from people’s judgment, especially when she’s so determined to defend him. Jack definitely had a streak of protectiveness in him as he showed in keeping his brother safe after their father is injured. Ms. Hein wrote a wonderful story that made me smile and laugh because of the heroine’s determination to show the hero that there are good people in Wirralong. Also, the chemistry between these two was strong and kept getting stronger every time they interacted. Jack being unsure whether he will stay had me worrying for a happy ending. This was a wonderful story which was easy to visualize in my head as I read. I totally loved these characters and didn’t want to put this book down. Ms. Heim did a fantastic job creating realistic characters, keeping the story line interesting, making me forget the world around me and not letting me go until I turned the last page, wanting more. I highly recommend this book to other readers and look forward to the next book in the series. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

Jack Hargreaves, didn't plan on staying in Wirralong for long. He was only there for his mother's funeral and to sort out the farm. Then, he would head back to Lightning Ridge where he mined for opals. He always felt out of place in Wirralong and never felt welcome. Jack met Elsa O’Donoghue at her salon where he stopped for a haircut. There was something special about her and Jack really wanted to get to know her better. So, he decided to stay in Wirralong a while longer. Plus, he really wanted to find the legendary Strathroy sapphires that his mother mentioned during her last call. But when a situation occurs at Jack's father's house and Jack gets caught up in the drama, will the scandal be the end for Jack and Elsa's new romance? I liked Jack right from the start. He was a hard worker, a bit stubborn and standoffish, especially when it came to women and the town he was raised in. But, I could tell he had a sensitive side. He just needed the right woman to bring it out of him. The author did a wonderful job with the plot and the background details of the characters. I enjoyed the setting too. There were some emotional moments along with some parts that made me laugh. All around, this is a great addition to the Outback Brides series.

This is the 3rd story in The Outback Bride Series. Each is written by a different author. Cathryn Hein takes us prospecting, Jack for Opals, his mom for Sapphires, Elsa for love. Jack spends his life on the hunting opal. Just him and his dog it's a lonely but he thinks a full life. Then his mom dies and he's brought back to the small town he grows up in. A town that the rumor mill is either talking about his mother digging for sapphires or his father who was a thief. Returning to town he is needing a quick haircut and shaves, to get to her funeral. Meet Elsa she runs the local beauty shop and cant help him right now. He grabs her clippers and buzzes his own hair and shaves his beard. That’s was not the shocking part, it was when he changes his clothes out on the street in front of her shop. Now it seems he is as attracted to Elsa as she is to him. Trying to bring the ranch back to life. Also working on his relationship with his brother who lives with his father. Elsa takes her stand she doesn't care what people think of him. She stands by him even when it cost her a customer. When a problem arises will Jack take a stand or will he escape to the outback?

A nice quick read with some interesting characters and storyline. I didn't enjoy this one as much as some of the others in the series but overall it isn't a bad read. For me I had a hard time feeling the connection between Elsa and Jack. She's gregarious, outgoing and loves the little town of Wirralong. He's a loner, reserved, and has a major chip on his shoulders when it comes to the town and it's residents. The combo just seemed odd. The book is well written and the characters nicely developed so it's a solid book.

I don't know where to start. I loved the beginning of Elsa and Jack's story, the middle was teasing and not and I adored the ending. Jack comes home from opal mining in the outback when his mother, Kate dies. His mom had always believed there were sapphires on her property but had never found them. Jack meets Elsa, a kind hearted hairdresser and the chemistry sizzles but he doesn't think he is good enough for her and believes the town thinks that, also. Elsa believes in Jack, they fall in love but never tell each other. He goes away and doesn't call her for too long. One short message and a gift. He finally comes to his senses and comes back for her, but will she have him? Will the sapphires ever be found? I thought this was an absolutely great book..I received this book from Net Galley for an honest review and no compensation otherwise.
