Description: Citing hundreds of research studies and incorporating details from the worlds of physics, biology, and quantum physics, this book attempts to legitimize energy medicine by providing scientific proof of its efficacy. The first edition was published in 2000.
Purpose: The author believes that energetics is a critical missing piece of our current healthcare model, stating, "energetics is our best hope for solving the mysteries of life and healing." The purpose of his book is to provide scientific proof that energy medicine is a legitimate model of healing. This is a much-needed book, as much that is written about energy medicine lacks research and scientific facts, relegating it to the realm of "esoteric idealism" that does little to sway mainstream medicine. The author meets his objectives with clear-headed scientific facts.
Audience: Although anyone interested in energy medicine will benefit from this book, it is clearly not written for lay people. It is densely packed with technical language and illustrations from physics, biology, electricity, anatomy, histology, and other scientific disciplines and it is not an easy read for those unfamiliar with the sciences. The author is a physiologist, cellular biologist, and biophysicist as well as a "recognized energy medicine expert."

Assessment: This is an important book that asserts that energy medicine is an essential component of healthcare. It is a useful and necessary book, grounded in scientific theory and aimed at the scientific and medical community. It attempts to edge energy medicine from the fringes and into the mainstream, and offers convincing facts and research to make the case. As I am not a scientist, I cannot vouch for the quality of the data. But I am inspired by the author's vision of energy medicine as an accepted part of mainstream medicine. Given the technical and scientific nature of the material, a second edition after 16 years is definitely justified.
