Overview

I’m living the dream in my fancy-pants world, and I’ve got the Instagram feed to prove it.

Who am I kidding? I’m literally holding it together with one more cup of coffee, yesterday’s dry shampoo, and a prayer.

So I finally said enough. Enough of me. I’m bidding farewell to chasing emptiness and exchanging it for more of Jesus.

If we agree with Paul in Acts 20:24 that our lives are worth nothing unless we use them for finishing the work of telling others the Good News - where are we in our quest to get busy for Jesus? In our world of hashtags, hair color, and having it all together, chances are we aren’t accomplishing much.

Enough of Me is an 8-week Bible study for women focused on what God’s Word has to say about the tug-of-war between our flesh and our mission. The study explores the barriers that stand between where we are today and where God wants to use us to finish His work.

Do you have a nagging in your heart for more purpose? Are you right smack dab in the middle of a tug-of-war between your flesh and your mission?

Often we want to live out the purpose and mission God has for us, but we’re too distracted, exhausted, and empty. Maybe it’s time to say enough to the excuses, anxiety, and interruptions that get in our way. Could it be we’re so busy chasing emptiness and playing the people-pleasing game, that we can’t find time to live on mission?

It’s time to take a deep breath and do some inventory.

Let’s dig in and see what God’s Word has to say about this tug-of-war between our flesh and our mission.

Let’s figure out ways to quit chasing emptiness and take bold steps of obedience.

Let’s discover how we can glorify God and steer people to Jesus in our cubicles, at our dinner tables, in our mom-groups, and with people we encounter every day.

What would happen if we said Enough of Me . . . more Jesus.

I adore this book. I feel like the author saw into my head and put everything I needed to hear on paper. (Or, in my case, a PDF on my iPad.) She writes so engagingly, I laughed out loud on a regular basis, and was hard pressed to not keep reading more than one day's worth of devotions! Truly an entertaining, raw, honest, challenging book. I could relate to so much Peters shared, and felt like we were just sitting across from each other at a coffee shop, enjoying friendship and community. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to grow closer to Christ and is looking for an engaging, fresh read in their quiet times. I received a free ARC from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

I just have to say I LOVE things like this. Journals, devotionals, planners. I love the slice of life that comes with it, the personal musings of the original author. And the scriptural applications they took away from their personal musings. Some of my best thoughts come from personal musings and letting my mind take wind when I focus on a concept. I mean come on, how do you think Fizzified was born. Years ago I came up with some of my best wanderings driving to and from work. Of course now I have a different job, a completely different commute, and a different take on life. And those musings are less and less engaging and inviting and definitely less worthy of putting on paper (screen) for others to engage with. Priscilla Peters however, she has engaging and inviting personal musings and mind wanderings. Think about all the things you hold onto in your life, the things that define you. Now, where does Jesus fit into that? Yup, thought so. You are back peddling and trying to 'redefine' you with that added to the equation aren't ya? Over 8 weeks Priscilla guides you through all the things that define You and help you redirect those definitions to Jesus. An intro for each week and 5 days of devotional journalling. Here's the drawback I have discovered with doing something like this via e-book. Reading on the phone is one thing but I am NOT a phone person. I mean come on, if you know me at all you know that texting me means there's an emergency and I need to call you ASAP. Computer is awesome but there's at least two nights a week I am without computer. My eight week study became something more along the lines of ten weeks. But you know what? That's OK. Some things I want to go back over. Some things I want to revisit. But the e-book vs physical book debate that rages around us? Spring for the physical book with this one. Trust me. I enjoyed the author's wit and take on life. She's real ya'll. She understands laundry piles and sniff checking the towels (OK maybe that's just a me thing?) and wondering of the bed sheets can go another day or if there's enough forks in the silverware drawer to put off dishes just a smidge longer. She's also not ashamed to not pull those punches and live authentically and out loud. And, as we all know how I feel about the hashtag/pound debacle that is taking over the internet, when I took her # apart so I could read the words they were just engaging as everything else. This book has a lot of real life but it also has a heap of using real life to draw yourself closer to Jesus. Complete the study, authentically and with purpose not just to check off the pages, and then think again about all the things you hold in your life that define you. Got Jesus? Get ready to start a bible study with a very good friend. A good friend who happens to know how to inspire you, teach you, and go on this journey right along with you. I am always a bit skeptical of bible studies from authors I am not familiar with, but I found myself liking this one instantly. I was engaged, challenged, and even had fun along the way. If you take your time, and truly follow this over the course of eight weeks, I think you'll find some amazing growth happening. Highly recommend. I received a complimentary copy of this book. This bible study is AMAZING! It's a great read and learning tool for all. It's a combination of real life examples mixed with scripture to show us how to live according to God's word and making everything more about him and less about ME! It's written in a fun and witty way. Just a great study!
