Most Helpful Customer Reviews
Escape Club: Sabotage is a short story that gives a brief glimpse of the club in action when one of “their” bands is threatened. The perfect lunchtime read. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this short story.
ROCK AND ROLL! Grant Sullivan’s Escape Club is a smashing success, and a recent addition to the staff, Jason Prather, is tending bar. Jason, a firefighter, is at a crossroads in his life. He always wanted to be a firefighter but have his priorities changed recently? An up and coming band, Wish Blender, is set to go onstage when there is a commotion. Jason’s instincts kick in and he’s off to see what’s happened. Lucy Benson, lead singer of the band, is angry and unsettled. Is someone out to SABOTAGE the band? Out to get Lucy? Oh my gosh, this is awesome! Regan Black amazes me! SABOTAGE is a short story, part of the Escape Club series, and a reader could start with this book, which is the third instalment; Ms. Black recaps succinctly in what consists the Escape Club without missing a beat. SABOTAGE is one of the greatest rock-based novels I have ever read! Regan Black creates a genuine rock and roll atmosphere, and I got the feeling of attending a rock concert in a small venue. Ms. Black knows her stuff, regardless of what it is! I loved Lucy: I saw her as a cross between Pat Benatar with a Joan Jett attitude, and I got Jason as well. The suspense is great, the romance wonderfully genuine, the dialogues honest and real while Jason is pondering on what to do with his life and how to make things work with Lucy. There is a real connection, but would there be a future for them as more than passing friends? I hope we will see more of Jason and Lucy and Wish Blender in the future, however the author chooses to do so, because there are hundreds of pages more to be told! SABOTAGE is a great short read, but be warned: if you read it over lunch, you might forget to eat! I believe that, with this series, Regan Black might have found a temporary cure for anything that ails us! Fantastic! I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
