Overview

Ever After (Even Now Series #2) by Karen Kingsbury

Two couples torn apart—one by war between countries, one by war within.

In this moving sequel to Even Now, Emily Anderson, now twenty, is attending college on a soccer scholarship when she meets the man who changes everything for her: Army reservist Justin Baker. Their tender relationship, founded on a mutual faith in God and nurtured by their trust and love for each other, proves to be a shining inspiration to everyone they know, especially Emily’s reunited birth parents, Lauren Gibbs and Shane Galanter.

Lauren and Shane still struggle to move past their opposing beliefs about war, politics, and faith. Shane believes it’s possible but Lauren doesn’t. So she says a painful good-bye to her long-ago love and returns to her job as a war correspondent in Afghanistan.

Both hearts are shattered, and Lauren and Shane believe that this time their relationship has truly ended forever. Then tragedy sends shock waves through all their lives. Can Lauren and Shane set aside their opposing views so that love—God’s love—might win, no matter how great the odds?

I highly recommend this book! This book will make you even more proud of our military. This book reminds you of the sacrifices of so many military servicmember's. It tells the story of how tragedy, loss, and despair can bring joy, love, and peace even in the mist of the storm. In reading this book, I was reminded of this truth... That God teaches us to trust in Him in our pain and suffering and to rely on Him for healing. God can use suffering and bring good out of any circumstance. It's His gift of grace. The dangers our loved one's face in harms way will never alter God's sovereignty. God can and will redeem you no matter what circumstances you face. Faith is believing in God and trusting His sovereignty no matter how heavy our burdens may be. I am a marine wife of a wounded servicemember and this book deeply touched my heart in thinking about my husband's journey and the hardships he has faced to our journey together and everything we have learned. God has taught us how so much about trusting in Him and being joyful in all situations. God is in control and that's the deal! This book is a must Read for any military families. It will bring tears to your eyes and make you even more proud in your loved one serving his/her country!

This would have been a much better book if it didn't go on and on about Jasons death

The best sequel i have read so far. The story flows from Even Now to Ever After like it is one big book. Lots of tears but great and powerful story. Lots of smiles for the power of love and faith.

A good story, but it gets tiresome after awhile, so many of Kingsbury's characters being one believer and one who is not. I really did not agree at all with Kingsbury's definition of I Corinthians 13 saying "Love never fails" as my KJV Bible does not have that at all. A very predictable read.

This was an amazing eye opener on viewpoints of war. Great sacrifice of our military families. What a great book. I don't think I have cried this much over a book in a long time. I suggest you buy stock in Puffs and pick up a couple of boxes before reading.

I love Karen Kingsbury. Honestly, it has been a long time since I've read anything that I literally had tears running down my cheeks for more than half of the book. But don't get me wrong, it's not a "downer" story. I have a new outlook on our military. I, like many others, hate war. But after reading this, I "get" it. It was so enlightening to live through these amazing characters and really FEEL what they went through. I loved Even Now as well. I would highly recommend both books!!!

As always, a good job by kingsbury. It did make me very emotional, but also made me really consider the sacrifices of our military and families.
